2019 rzr xp 4 turbo s stm primary and secondary. I keep blowing belts. I have alignment tool, my belt deflection is perfect inch and a quarter, belt is not rubbing on primary it’s in the middle but yet I keep getting cracks and swirly marks on the outside edge of my belt and I’ve already blown two.
I have 150 miles on a brand new belt 25 mile break-in. the last Polaris belt I blew it broke my housing and had to get it welded. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Nice looking clutches ...Try marking with a black marker ,the inside of the primary and secondary sheaves and drive at top speed / Shift out
This will allow you to see were the belt is riding and if it is bottoming in the secondary or other
I have no experience with the STM setup but in your picture it looks like your belt is riding extremely high in the secondary...but this may be OK with the STM? ...Have you called STM and ask them about this ?

No I haven’t talk to them yet this just occurred last night I have plans to call them on Monday. I was actually wondering the same thing because it looks awfully high on the secondary what would cause that do you know

It could be a number of things ....If it was a Polaris clutch I might be able to help , but I have no idea what STM does
Do you think your belt is slipping at certain loads? Do a few Hero laps with the cover off get it good and hot , and then shut it down and feel the Primary and secondary. If one is way hotter than the other this will help you diagnose were the slip is coming from

We might be able to get some more answers ...watch this .... @RWB713

Lol...sorry to leave you hanging Max, I was out doing other things all weekend.

@Tryfon masouris I'm not at all familiar with how the STM's clutches adjust or operate, so I'm not going to be much help, but contacting STM is going to be your best best, I would guess that whatever is causing your secondary to close up so much that it basically pushes the whole belt out of it at rest is your problem, it's probably got the primary to secondary relation all out of sync and you're slipping and over tensioning the belt, then on decel the belt is so high in the secondary related to the primary that it's getting loose and slapping the cover because the primary is opening more than the secondary is closing.

Out of curiosity, why did you upgrade to STM clutches with that low of mileage on your car? High HP build? Are you putting the belts on the correct direction? I put a factory belt on the wrong way and it blew in 80 miles (stock clutch, stock motor)... switched to Trinity “Worlds best belt” and they have been a dream. Took it a step further and got the one for the Pro XP (everything’s the same just slightly thicker), these belts are designed to handle 400+ Hp.

That belt looks like it is halfway out of the secondary in that picture. That surely isn't right. Something is outta whack.

I haven't tuned on many stm setups but I can tell you this. Your belt is hanging way way to far out of your secondary. Not sure how you adjust travel in a stm secondary but I'm willing to put money on if u get that belt about flush with the top of your secondary your issues will go away. When the belt is shifted out that far the belt will slip like crazy and cause numerous other issues
