Not sure how many are still planning on traveling to Moab in the next month... but recent hotel & restaurant closures may greatly effect your plans.... article below from the Moab Sun

That’s true. And just because it isnt deadly to a large percentage of the world, it is very deadly to some and very easily spread. If we don’t do everything we can to prevent accidentally spreading the virus further, then you and I may end up being indirectly responsible for killing humans with weak immune systems.
I’d like to believe that we as a society could handle this in grace, but we can’t. There’s too many irresponsible/stupid people out there.
Heck, my step mom is an EMT part time, so she was designated to stand at the front door of her work and take her coworkers temperatures before they entered. Everyone was told to stay home if they felt sick, and yet two of her coworkers showed up with 104* fevers! They said they just didn’t want to miss work, even though they knew they were putting others health at risk. It’s for this reason we have to have a national quarantine.

The Facebook groups are full of idiots talking about how it's BLM land and nobody can keep them from camping on it, and they're going to go regardless. On and on about their Constitutional rights, etc.
It was the SE Utah health department that closed everything, not Moab.
Last thing we need is a bunch of UTV owners violating this order, having their picture on the front page of the newspaper.
Stay away till it's ok to go. The local businesses will be happy to see you when it's open.

We will stay away until it's re-opened, with that said I'd sure like to know how a county, or even a state health department can close hundreds of thousands of acres of federal BLM land. I read through the documents posted and never saw a single mention of BLM land. I'm not arguing whether or not it should be closed, just wondering how they can legally do it.

One would think that dispersed camping on BLM land would be about as good as "social distancing" can get. Even if Moab implements "shelter in place", getting groceries and gas can't be included.

The state and local agencies haven't closed the federal lands, what they have done is dramatically restrict travel in the area (access to the OHV area) and closed or severely limited the operations of various businesses in the local area.
They have asked locals to eliminate all but critical travel.
In the order they recognize that tourism is a huge part of the local economy, but rightly assert that their primary responsibility is to the health of the residents of the counties in question, and that is where they are focusing their directives. These are the first steps.
If folks comply they will go no further. If people don't get the message they usually have a criminal authority section in their state criminal code that makes failure to comply a crime. I think that is gonna happen if the people doing the spring break thing in Florida don't wake up.
The Feds have closed a lot of national parks and such already, I imagine if the locals around Moab ask them to add the OHV lands to the closures it wouldn't take much to get the State BLM Office to write and publish the order.

Hopefully we get through this and get to and past, "Peak Corona" and can start heading back to normal.

Yea what I am lost on is.... ok they closed schools and many jobs and stores but many businesses may remain open? What's the difference ppl are still out and about so why only close half of everything either close everything or everything stay open. My son dont have to go to school than why do I have to go to work? I could catch it and take it home to him this is all stupid and way to extreme they even stopped stocking trout in some states like wtf is that going to do?

People aren’t willing to isolate themselves if they are sick, 90% of Americans can’t pay their bills after 1 week without work and don’t have $1,000 in savings. If people would stay home then the government would not have to step in. The government is shutting everything down because they have to in order to protect people from themselves. And trust me, I’m always on the side of as little government as possible but I do feel this is necessary.

Case in point, I have a coworker that was in Florida and Texas and came right back to work without self isolating for a few days. Completely stupid but he’s broke, out of PTO and had to come back to work.

Alaska is headed for a complete shutdown for likely 3-4 weeks. Both of our primary hospitals operate at near capacity, a Covid-19 outbreak for us would be devastating and it’s not like we can just drive people to another state, they have to be Medivac’d out.

This virus is bad news. It’s correct name is SARS- Co V2. The WHO ( World Health Organization) will not call it that so not to instill unnecessary panic and fear from certain populations that experienced the SARS out break in 2003.

The media and government refer to it as COVID 19 which is the disease.

There is no conspiracy or underlying motive behind the media or government concerning this virus and pandemic. My work is considered one of those essential businesses who works close with the CDC and I can tell you that it’s no joke

It’s time to not be selfish and whine about the inconveniences and cancellations of riding areas and to follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC.

But, it is ok to gripe about the stock market diving. I lost 100K on my stocks and my 401k as taken a serious blow. &$&@&$!! 😡

But no doubt, now is the time to buy because we will get past this virus and I’m confident the market will bounce back

Last Wednesday in Ohio, we had 4 cases. This Wednesday we had 88. That is 22 times the previous week. If the numbers hold true, this coming Wednesday we should have 1,936 cases. If the math continues, the following two week we should have 42,592 and 937,024 cases. So in 4 week we could go from a measly 4 cases to damn near 1 mill.
I was very annoyed last week with all the closures. My daughter had a cheer competition scheduled last weekend in Gatlinburg. We were 2hrs away from Gatlinburg last Thursday and got the news her comp was canceled. I feel we made the appropriate decision and canceled our hotel and headed home. I hope enough people are being responsible enough to slow the spread.
Our group have already booked cabins at ride royal blue for early April. I hope we all get this under control soon. It is good to hear mortgage companies and others may be will to help out those in need. Also I hear the gov is giving 1k-1.2k to most people. We will all be alright. Might be some tough time ahead but we have ALL been through tough times before. [emoji631]

I've said it should be taken seriously and the long term effects are not known. There is not enough data to make a definative determination at this point. However, based on the numbers available to date the extreme measures being implemented are not warranted. According to the CDC & WHO there are 234,073 as of 3/20/20 confirmed cases vs 65M for N!H!. Not a doctor or scientist and don't pretend to be in the know but just observing and looking at the numbers. https://www.who.int/docs/default-so...oronaviruse/situation-reports/20200320-sitrep-60-covid-19.pdf?sfvrsn=8894045a_2
