Looking for those with experience with kinetic tow ropes for RZR's. What size works best etc. Any information you can share?

Sounds good. Was not sure a 1/2" would be enough. Looks like it will be fine. That was not a easy recovery. Have you tried the soft shackles? Seems I spend more them my share helping others out. Looking to reduce as much weight as possible.

I used a 1/2” kinetic rope in about an 80’ combination of lines, in a straight pull of my XPT4 buried in snow, it held up perfectly.. it’s hard to mentally grasp trusting the little thing, but they are exceptionally strong, same with soft shackles, I have used them enough that I have faith in them now. Thinking about picking up another of each pretty soon.

Have been stewing over the question of what size rope. Keep going back and forth between 1/2 and 3/4. Then thought, hay, ask the guys on the forum. Thanks guys. Sure gave me clarity. Seems the 1/2 is just right for our size machines.

Quality over price. Be safe when using recovery equipment!

Kinetic/snatch Straps and ropes typically stretch 20%-30% depending on thickness and moisture.
Don't want to mess around with these things breaking. Only buy products with breaking strength labels on them. There is no standard testing for these types of products. Remember that if something breaks while using a kinetic strap (Shackle, vehicle anchor point), there are some serious forces being applied that could make a dangerous situation. Also, a kinetic strap will act more like a static strap after several pulls, the fibers need to recover. Here are some respected places to get good equipment. I have used the Ditchpig and I trust it for light use. But let's all face it, most times "light use" is not enough.

This is where I have learned about kinetic ropes. Some of his recovers are so impressive:

Soft shackles seems to be the way to go. Now about quality.

This one looks OK and has good reports.

This one I think is not so good. The ends are dipped in something instead of having the tough wear sleeve.

I like this one the best. Has an adjustable wear sleeve on the rope. Watching Matt's recovery, he has often doubled the rope. There are times in towing out another that 20' is way to long to get around corners on the sand. Think this one might be the best of the lot.

What do you think?

Continue to research this. Found two reviews where the 1/2" rope broke on pulling out a UTV. Seems 1/2" is a gamble for UTV but safe for ATV's. 3/4" is the size to go for UTVs. That is also the recommendation from most of the rope manufactories. Some sellers list the 1/2" for ATV and UTV use. Think they want to sell ropes as the 1/2" is cheaper. Out in the middle of no were, think one wants dependability to keep everyone going. Also see where some 3/4" are listed with a 16000# MBS and some with 19000#MBS. Also some made in the USA and some in China. Think it is very important to double down on buying Made in USA whenever possible.

ASR now makes a 5/8 rope for UTV, this is what I use as I have a heavier XP4 Turbo S and was worried about a 1/2 inch rope breaking. If you use to big of rope it will not stretch as much and reduce the kinetic energy available and act like a static strap. I have used the 5/8 rope with good results.

Good input. Matt of Matt's towing said the 3/4 worked better for UTV. Assume over his rope of choice the 7/8 he uses for full size rigs. I agree the right size will give best results. Will look more at the 5/8. Do you have any pictures of the 5/8 in use? Thanks

No pics but when I was using it I was hitting it pretty hard with several feet of slack and there was very little shock when the rope got tight. I enjoy Mats vids and have learned alot from him including the existence of kinetic ropes and I think he recommends the 3/4 because his sponsor, Yankum Ropes, doesn't make a 5/8 or 1/2

So without breaking the bank, what's the best bang for the buck and made in USA ...NOT CHINA
Ditch Pig is out for me ....it's made in China

Saw these on a Shock Therapy video. I like that fact that you don't need a shackle. Home Page | SpeedStrap
Thanks guys ....I thought the Speed strap was supposed to be the hot ticket ...No??
That's actually what I have and use, have had it for about 6 years now, probably used it 20 times, has been excellent every time......it is a little scary the first couple times you use it tho..have to build trust in the weave lol, and that's it's such a relatively small strap (which all kinetic rope are...have to overcome the "smaller is weaker" mindset), but once you know in your mind it's gonna hold up, they do work great.

That being said, If I were to buy today, I'd go with a F55 and soft shackles now that I have developed trust in them, but you can save about 50% with the speed strap...it's about 1/2 the strength relative to size tho...so give and take

@RWB713 so you would go with the F55 because it has a load rating of 14K vs 10K with the speed strap?
How much do you think is really needed for a UTV on average?
It seems Like the speed strap would be nice since you dont need to carry shackles of any kind ?

I would, but I don’t know that the difference is really worth twice the price, I just like the added strength for the added assurance really, and shackles don’t really bother me that much, but I would understand the opposite take on both points too

I carry 3 straps and both soft and steel shackles as it is anyway, and hooking up with a shackle is just as convenient as weaving the speed strap to me, but if I were to take a strap out and replace with the F55, the speed strap would still stay and I’d pull out one of the others, versatility and options can be very useful too
