I would determine if it was broken wire in harness or dirty contacts in sensor before replacing a $178.00 assembly.

I actually already checked it in a garage, and the mechanic told me this is the problem. He disassemble it, tried to clean and "shave" it a bit but it didn't help. He told me this part needs to be replaced, but he wanted a lot of money for it, so i'm trying to buy it myself.

Are you sure item #2 is the gear position selector?
I saw in one of the forums a photo of it, and it doesn't look the same.

What year? Both my 08's had this issue. Search my threads and you'll find how I fixed it.

The part number is 3234871.

I think your picture is of an 08 sensor.
The connector has 6 wires.

The 09-14 sensor connector has 2 wires.

I would check the continuity between the common (center) contact and high contact to verify internal resistor is bad.

If resistance is correct look for mechanical issue with pins, springs, & contact surface of sensor.
