New member first post, Hello to all. Have been watching since April when I road my new 2015 1000 4 and found that terrible noise. Hats off to all that had the guts to go inside and figure out this problem. I have done all the drive shaft straightening and phasing with no improvements. Also delt with Polaris and got a new 2015 diff under warranty that was noisier than the old one, Good side they gave me two year extended warranty for free. Today I moved the shim in the front pinion and still have the noise but not nearly as bad "less than 50% of what it was" Was it worth the work? absolutely! I can live with this and I do think that it will get better with more miles on the new diff.
Bottom line I think it's a great machine that is now a little better.
Thanks again to all the wrenches and gear heads

Check your front axle's if you lift up the rear wheels off the ground and take your car up to 30mpg with front wheels on ground. If you here noise it's your diff or drivline somewhere if you don't here noise it's your axle's.

I don't know if the whaaat was for me maybe I'll make it easier for you

If you raise your rear wheels and put car in drive and spin them and you have a noise or vibration it's in your driveline or diff.

If you raise your rear wheels and the noise are vibration is gone it's your front axles or bearings the reason being your front wheels and axle aren't turning.

It's funny all these people think they have to drive there car to find out where noise is coming from or see if there driveshaft is bent all you have to do is put the back of car on jack stands in 2wd and stick your cell phone under it and record what is going on from underneath. Pretty simple!

That makes very good sense. I didn't think about that couple weeks ago and drive my rzr down to hill engine off and put my phone by the cup holders and record a video. After I am done text the video to the service manager and he took my rzr in following week. Than he sent the video to Polaris and guess what Polaris said the sound is normal. You guy should hear the noise soo loud and they are stupid enough to say sound normal. In the and service checked everything and found out my both shafts are bent. It has been three weeks. I am hoping to get my 2016 xp1000 back tomorrow or Monday so can actually put some miles on it befor the winter. And I hope I won't be hearing anymore noise.

Please be extremely careful and chalk your front tires if you do this. I have heard of a couple of xp1k's on the dyno and 1 at lucas oil socal short coarse race that had their cars try and take off on them. Even when they were in 2wd NOT in 4wd with the rear wheels spinning the front tires engaged and the rzr tried to take off. Pretty scary stuff.

Have a brand new 2016 xp 2 with diff issue. model 1333344 . Considering adding a billet Sprague from BlackRhino, anyone added a different Sprague and done this change at the same time, any issues ? Want to do this once and be confident I won't have to revisit this again.
Good morning, if you are looking to get one of our billet spragues you can use promo code SANDSPORTS15 and save 10%. https://blackrhinoperformance.com/s...-rhino-polaris-rzr-xp1000-2-seat-replacement-billet-front-differential-sprague/
Kenny thanks for taking a few minutes on the phone today to discuss my findings.

For others looking to do the Shim swap with a 2016 and model 1333344 diff. After pressing off the bearing I found that mine did NOT have a shim to move. On the fence on my next move. For now added the BlackRhinoPerf sprague and back together then run it for a couple weeks.

Ok guys I just got my 2016 rzr 1000 back from the dealer after three weeks they changed my both shafts. They said they were bent and replaced them. Didn't cost me anything but they said Polaris did everything not to cover it under the warranty they even ask for pictures to look at if there is any abusing involve. I only have around 500 miles and it is still like brand new so in the and cost me nothing but my diff noise still there so I gues I have to to suck it up until I have time to look for shim.

Brother had a noise and vibration in the front of his brand new xp 1000 so we got to checking it out and narrowed it down to the front diff with a mechanics stethoscope. Pulled it apart along with a 2014 xp1000 diff i installed on my old xp900 that sounded good. After comparing to 2 diffs found that the 2014 had .026 gap between the pinion gear and housing. The 2015 only had .010 gap. Found a shim on the 2015 diff between the pinion bearings and pinion gear. Pulled the shim out which gave it the same amount of clearance as the 2014. Put diff back together, installed it in rzr and the noise and vibration is 100 percent gone.
Just wanted to give a shout out to Brian for posting this. Did the shim swap the other day and I am happy as a pig in shit! Thanks!

I plan on sticking my Go Pro under mine and going for a short drive while it is still new . Obviously I have the noise and I am sure it is in the differential , but I am curious how straight my drive shafts are . Sounds like a shaft wobbling in a worn bearing , it does get quieter and smoother when I accelerate and put a load on it . Looks about 3/16 out at the yoke . I did another video from the rear forward , the shaft tube itself was Very straight .

The noise is the shim if you move the shim it will go away also looks like your shaft is bent or your carrier bearing is bad. wiggle your shaft around and see if you have play in the carrier bearing.

Brian should get an award for beginning this thread with his observations and solution if there is such a thing.
:clap::clap::clap:

I am really looking forward to fixing my wife's 2015 Xp4 soon, I have peace of mind knowing the fix exists and I can do it easily and cheaply.
We owe thanks!!!! It feels good to help people

If you want to find out your shaft is bent or not while you are driving on slow speed look down to the hole inside your cup holder you will see the shaft spinning. If it is bent you will see the wabbling very clear. That's what I did and I drove mine down to hill engine off and record a video right above the cup holder to have the loud noise and sent it to dealer. In the and I got two brand new shaft.

I do realize the noise is in the differential , No bad carrier bearing , the shaft isn't even bent . This machine is brand new ridden down the street just for this video , you are seeing the wobble because the yoke is welded on off center . I am very familiar with the problem , but just wanted to show the poor quality of the driveshaft build . Is this the noise problem ,No it isn't will it add undue stress and wear to bearings , Yes it will for sure . Like others I think it is ridiculous that we are being told this is normal . I take that as an insult to my intelligence . I will add the video from the rear of the driveshaft facing forward , you will see that the shaft is straight as an arrow . Uploading to you tube now . Polaris is correct in saying this is normal ( In the sense they all do it ) But in no means does that mean it is right .

Polaris knows whats up they just hope you don't notice. Have them replace your shaft then do the shim fix on your own they wont do it. Yeah QC sucks but it's a fun car.

Any 2015 Highlifter owners here that had the shim and noise? Mine was quite for about first 150 miles then I started noticing a noise up front after about 10 mph to 25mph. I would say its not as loud as the couple video's posted on this thread but its loud enough i can hear it while driving.
Thing I can't figure out is, if it does have the shim and the gear is meshed too tight then why didn't it make the noise right from the start? I read almost ever page on hear and a few others said theirs also did not make the noise until 100+ miles. did the shim swap and noise gone.

Just took delivery of my Voodoo Blue RZR XP 4 900. First trip on the mountain trails, it sounds like every gear in that front diff is rattling.. Actually a little quieter in 4wd.other that that, we rode 52 mile and had a blast.

Can you let us know your mechanical background
I'm not on here to sell anything.
Only trying to state the facts for people that are getting incorrect information.

37 years as a journeyman CNC machinist and manufacturing process engineer.
8 years of repairing/refurbishing Hilliard/Polaris front differentials for dealerships, repair shops and retail customers.
I've been on these forums a long time and seen a whole lot a people dodge using their knowledge and actually say how technical they are when offering advice. I've seen Polaris people run off here like their lives depended on it. I have not seen a manufacturers tech (even though he doesn't say it, it's pretty obvious) come on here and solve what I think is one of the biggest if not THE biggest problem Polaris since the air boxes (which the aftermarket fixed).

This is a monumental moment I don't think you guys are appreciating. Well maybe you are but I stopped on page 5 when I was convinced an answer has been reached.

Thank you juswannabreaksumthin!

Brian and Camaro hats off. This should be stickied stacked bolded and hell make it a link on the front page!

This is truly what make these forums great! I hope in the future more will follow the example of how to get a monumental problem solved.
