I have alittle bit of play in the white box shaped thing that's on the secondary, is that normal? also back to the weights im running the same clutch as you cage240, what have you settled on as far as weights? im 1,1,0 but plan on going 2,1,0 currently it revs out too fast in low and doesn't have enough bottom to run in high with the 1,1,0. I ride in open area mostly sand pits.

I'll prob be putting mine in this weekend. A far as adjusting goes... what do you feel like the ultimate goal is? Looking for smoothness, launch power, top end? What should I be looking for it to do?
The ultimate goal of CVT clutching is to have your rpm match the rpm of your peak power from the time you mash the throttle until the clutches are fully shifted out. After that point the rpm will increase because the clutches cannot adjust anymore.

Now if you hardly ever go WOT, say a rock crawler, your wants maybe different, but you clutches will still be very efficient with above method. You can play with springs to lower engagement or raise engagement or you can do it via weights, but then you can change your peak rpm. Which can change you engine power output.

It's not nearly as touchy as 2 stroke engines because of the wide power range of 4 strokes.

Less heat equals longer belt life. Heat is generated from slipping, or misaligned belts.
that really makes sense. I have still not installed mine due to waiting for wheels and tires to arrive and I want to accommodate that. I feel like I know what to look for now, thanks.

I set mine up per the sheet at 2/1/1 and it's snappy as hell. Quick throttle blips through the woods and the ass end is kicking you around every corner. I didn't get to lung it out on a longer stretch, but up to 50 mph bursts and it jumps pretty quick to 8300ish. Your setup will likely be different as I have the TAS-03 secondary with bmp helix/spring and stock wheels/tires, nor do I run much sand.

Yea that was problem I was having with 1/1/0 was it was raving out to fast.the 2/1/0 seems to be pretty good so far I like it. I haven't really messed with it since I've put that weight setup on. I'm going to maybe try the 2/1/1 but like he said he has a different secondary with stock tires and stuff. Best way to is try out different setups and see which one you like. I carry everything I need to change out my belt and some other random tools in my buggy. So maybe next time you go ridin just take some tools along and your weights and try some different setups. It only takes a few minutes to take the cover off and change everything.

I changed my weights today, went with 2, 1, 1, not really liking it for my riding conditions, if you ride alot of trails definitly a great set up, im gonna try the 2, 1, 0 tomaro if the weather holds up. You dont have to take the primary off, it literally took me 5 minutes to change weights , i just took the arms off that the weights sit in. It took longer to take the cover off Lol,

I talked to Mike at Bikeman and he suggested adding a weight since I'm pulling 8300 at 2/1/1. He said add one to be at 2/2/1 and shoot for 7900-8100 by 50-55 mph. I did that tonight and it's spot on. 8100 by 50 mph and seemed to pull good. I'm going to run it this way for our Memorial Day weekend ride.

The 2, 1, 0 is the best set up ive used so far. Alittle tip, it literally takes minutes to change the weights. An easy way to get the arms out that the weights sit in without taking the clutch primary off just take the bolt out that holds the arm in and use a small magnet to pull the arm out , heck of alot easier than pulling the primary off

@larsonator no i left the belt on aswell. I didnt take any bolts out of the primary except the 3 that hold the arms in. Seriously it takes longer getting the plastic clutch cover off than changing the weights this way. I just saw your running 2, 2, 1. I dont think mine will pull that with the 28s

Ok so you don't even need to pull the bolts off the face then that pretty cool I thought there would be tension on it that's why I said about taking the plate off. But cudos to you sir Thanks for giving us that info

Any other feedback from you guys?

I have an EVO reflash, and feel like the machine is massively lacking on the top end, and overall acceleration does not seem to be much if any better...so looking at a clutch kit to bring it all together...

Have the six bolts out on the front plate that holds in the spring on primary clutch but plate does not want to come off. Appears you didn't remove the main middle bolt either so any ideas as why mine isn't wanting to come off?

You don't need to remove the center bolt on a 900S either. If yours isn't coming off look and see if the washer on your center bolt isn't centered perfectly. You may have to loosen the bolt to reposition it. Otherwise, it may just need some light tapping. Put three bolts back in a few threads first.
