I travel with my VP Gas Cans and I wanted to take the spouts off while traveling so I can cover the cans in the back of my pickup with the tourneu cover. So in order to seal the tops of the can I was using the screw tops that came with the caps but they are a PITA to unscrew so I was using a Key but I would occasionally misplace. So, I saw a few hose benders online that had a built-in cap key

but being a cheap SOB I wanted to see if I could build a better mouse trap, so I found this STL file and remixed it and added the cap key on the side:

Let me know if you want the STL file.

I use the LC2 cans, I like the handle layout better. Also have a few of the cheap buc'ees cans, they look like a VP knockoff, and are OK for a backup.

As for the color codes, gas cans also require spill proof (ironic name considering) nozzles....these racing fuel cans, if you read the fine print, are usually marked with something indicating they are not to be used for fuel lol.

I could care less about the color codes and the spill requirements, both are stupid IMO.

I have some of those "Fill proof" cans for diesel and around the house stuff, first thing I do is eliminate those and put a vent into the can. https://www.amazon.com/Zxglxinyao-Replacement-Nozzle-Spouts-Gasoline/dp/B0CJ2JJ9DK

Makes them usable again.. I also have one of these for the little gallon mix gas we use in the weed whacker and chainsaw

I have been to California (of all places who BTW was solely responsible for those stupid gas nozzles being thrush on the other 49 states) and was able to fill them without any issues
