Thanks for supplying this for me. It is frustrating to find all this. I didn't have the SM until now. I appreciate this. I also found some youtube vids.

 

 

I haven't performed this before so sure easy for you to say don't look at it. I can undo nuts but that doesn't help now does it? There has to be a how to do this technique

I took a look at my linkage and everything looks tight

You have to adjust it, not look at it.

and coasting to a stop at a view point when it started making that noise again until I came to a complete stop. I placed it into Park then back in H and it was fine again.

This is classic of the linkage not being adjusted correctly. The trans will pop out of gear on deceleration because the linkage is not fully engaged in the detent.

 

Should be locked in high with slight play in cable. If you put shifter in high

 

Cable should not be tight

 

I took a look at my linkage and everything looks tight

 

My 24 popped out of gear once, but I bumped the shifter with my leg. Otherwise locks in every gear never been adjusted.

I have the same machine, you have to be deliberate when putting it into gear and not depend on the indicator on the dash.

 

My 24 has no issue locking in to gear. Dash indicator is accurate, and it’s definitely a solid drop in to each gear on the shifter.

Adjust the shift linkage at the trans, it's not fully engaged into gear.

 

Put it on flat ground shut it off. Put in high gear. And walk around to rear passenger side and wiggle the shifter linkage see if it is locked in a gear on needs a little wiggle to make it click. Is where I would start.

 

No I don't hit the lever at all. Do you know how to check or adjust the linkage?

 

Possibly your hitting the shifter forward slightly with your leg, when leaning forward from braking. Or your linkage needs adjustment
