Hello all, I recently bought this machine Easter Day from Craigslist! Drove over 200 miles on it running great and on my way home from a lake I just lost all power and got these codes(P0301 and P0314)!! I’ve searched all over people saying it’s the belt slipping seems to be the most common. There’s only 1000 miles on it now and if it’s a new belt that I need I was wondering what to buy? I’ve been looking on eBay at an Elite Racing Belt. Any help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

My money is on the belt as well, those misfire codes are caused by a slipping belt 90% of the time. Replace it with an OEM belt, scuff the sheaves and clean with denatured alcohol or brake cleaner, and break the belt in with varying RPM at low load for 25 miles or so.

Fuel pump is a possibility as well, but I would replace the belt first

Our 2019 XP 1000 did the same thing. We took it to the dealer and they said it was the belt. Replaced it and did same thing. They couldn’t figure it out. I did a leak down test and discovered that I was leaking on the Intake side. Valve Tappets needed replaced. We relished the cam and it runs fine now. Also have EVO tune installed to desensitize those error codes.

Just to be clear about this.... there are 2 things that will set those codes off...

1. A false misfire - this is what the belt slipping causes, there is no actual engine misfire, the abrupt and unexpected change in engine speed just causes the ECU to see it as a misfire - 90% of the time, this is the case on these machines.

2. An actual engine misfire ( it's actually several, there is a hysteresis and table to this that sets the sensitivity basically ) - This can be caused by damn near anything, but is usually accompanied by other symptoms and codes that will assist in pinpointing the problem.

A good reference article:
