XP Shifter Position

Looking at getting a Triple XP XL bench seat and it requires cutting 4" off the back of the shifter console for the XL..I noticed from day 1 that the shifter on my XP sits in a farther rearward position in the console slot for a given gear that my last RZR did. In High it is all the way to the rear of the slot..which means it would hit the XL bench. So I guess I am wondering are all the XPs like this? I thought I found a solution/ a problem with mine. I thought maybe the shift lever on the tranny was flipped over, ie put on backwards at the factory. It is master keyed, if you flip it that puts the shifter at the front of the console slot in park and about the middle in high..BUT that puts the lever in an over center postion in park which means it is harder to get out of park.
So long story long..does everyone's shifter sit at the back of the console slot in high?

Thanks

BTW I think I actually like the way it shifts better with the lever flipped, shifter is more centered in the console slot and the detents are more pronounced...I can actually feel it pop into each gear solidly. Reverse is still the least solid..but it is better..I can just bump it into each gear. Shifter feels more like my previous Polaris machines..kind of have to bump it out of each gear to the next. Can anyone confirm where their shifter is in high? Just curious if mine was wrong from the get go, or if that is they way they are running them from the factory.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to remember to try flipping the lever when I install my UTV Inc delrin bushings. Anything to make this thing shift better is worth the effort.

BTW, by shifter does not go all the way back in high. Close, but I can still get a finger in there.

They make an XL(ie extra large) version that requires 4" to be cut off the back of the console...basically so the console isn't in the middle rider's crotch..

I'm just wondering if my shifter is farther back than is normal, in high it is at the back of the slot and in park it is centered. If I flip the lever on the tranny it is more centered in it's range, but slightly forward..say 1/4 way from the front in park, and 3/8 from the rear in high. More like my RZR4 was..the shifter feel is also more like the RZR4 was..the detents are more pronounced due to decrease in leverage the cable has on the shift lever on the transmission.

it doesn't hit the shifter only the plastic console

Ok, mine was almost touching the console in High, but that isn't enough difference to tell me my lever was backwards. Also I don't think flipping the lever is worth doing just for the shift feel , it is more notchy than it was, but nothing is going to make the current Polaris shifter great, besides like I said in park the lever is over center, that puts the end of the cable at angle instead of a straight shot...might cause premature wear.
