Thanks for the pics. Looks like a place that you can cruise around and enjoy the sand without worring about getting run over.
that is very true... a busy weekend their is about 10 rigs.
gps is almost needed you can get lost their not alot of land marks or trails and nothing is marked

I go there once a year. Its a 3 hour 45 minute tow from boise. I get water at the chevron and you can be in town in 10 minutes if needed. Its the best place for my kids as there is nobody there as stated above and you camp in the dunes. They are actually a very long dune structure and climb over (2) mountains. There are no fees for camping or day use. I will prob be there for spring break. We go on hunts looking for the watering troughs. We have found (5) so far with the weather vein / windmills still standing.

Matt

I like the Winnemucca dunes because they arent crowded, no fees, no rangers, for the most part. I see Ca plates all the time there so others must think its worth the trip. The dunes arent big dunes but they stretch for quite a ways. johnnycats pics really give you a good representation. Its laid back here :ride:Then again; if we tell to many people.....maybe i should delete my post. lol
