Been doing some searching and want some opinions. What is a good winch and what is need from beginning to end to make it right?

Thanks

I have a canvas top and won't that require some alterations on that? I did think of doing that

Well ordered the winch from Gander Moutain (best price by far) and also ordered the EMP front bumper. Looking for some feed back on mounting the winch on top of the bumper.

I was thinking the same thing. But I am new to the RZR world and at this time do not plan on throwing a lot of money into new springs shocks etc. I just got my Warn RT 3.0 from ebay 318.00 shipped NIB and due to me having a 14 foot enclosed trailer I am limited to how long my RZR is. (Still have to fit the wifes wolverine 450 into it). So I had to settle for the Polaris brush guards that look like 50's era eye glasses. I have 2" to spare with both bikes in the trailer.

I am planning on adding the winch and the 2" rocktec lift to maintain a decent ride hight without having to max out the pre loads.

I would lift mine in a heart beat but have limited clearence getting into my enclosed trailer. have to back it in and have no room to spare! What kind of trailer are you using?
Chop your top! It looks cooler that way anyway. Good choice on the winch and bumper. EMP makes great stuff. Several guys I know have that bumper and it is really nice.

I was also worried about the weight. Do you think it is too much? I was thinking if I cranked the springs it might compensate for the extra weight. The thing nose dives as it is

Can't wait to see the feedback on the EMP bumper! It looks like it is built for a truck. It does weigh in at a hefty 40 pounds, though. But, it bolts behind the radiator, so a collision won't cost an extra $450 in rad replacement! BTW, after you install your winch, go practice with it. It is always better to learn the capabilities and the limits of the winch before you really need it in a real life situation.

I am looking at a bumper now and mounting the winch on top. Any cons to having it on the bumper?

My buddy and I bought Viper winchs for our Ranger XP's ...but I ended up selling the Ranger and buying a RZR-S. My buddy mounted his Viper and has used it a few times without any issues...in fact pulled my XP out of a few jams. When I contacted MotoAlliance and asked for advise on mounting the winch on the RZR...it was no issue swapping the Ranger mount for the RZR mount. I had excellent communication and excellent customer service. That in itself says ALOT about the company!

I have the Warn 2.5RT on my RZR. I have used it to winch myself out, as well as others. I have not been disappointed. Eventually I would not mind to upgrade to a 3.0XT, but this one is doing what I need at this point. I have the 3.0XT on my Rhino. Believe this or not.......I winched a 1500 Silverado uphill out of ditch with it.

I heard the same thing. I local parts house ATV tires atv parts atv wheels atv accessories Suzuki Polaris Honda said they dropped them because of quality issues. To many returns. But I have also heard they have made many improvements. I was going to try one but decided to go with the warn. Too much hassle to replace and the warn on my Arctic Cat has never let the other stuck people down. lol Not sure what is is like to Recover my self.

Patiance will find you a good deal on the winch you want you just have to ask yourself one question. Which winch do I want. Like anything else set your sights and try not to settle.

I installed a Viper Max 4,000lb with Amsteel Synthetic red rope upgrade and their new dashboard switch. Total cost delivered was $296.

For the money, it's the best winch out there. Their installation instructions could have been better, but their hardware provided is outatanding. There is info online for the installation.

The winch operates well and is quiet.
