Great forum, I p/u my xp900 a couple of weeks ago and the cooling fan seems to run a lot. The temp gauge runs around 200 with the red dash light blinking I guess when the fan is on. I checked the coolant level and it is low. So I am looking to add some, what do u recommend. Anyone use a coolant additive that works. Thanks for the help.

I have had my XP for almost a month, it currently has 56 miles and about 10 hrs use. Mine isn't running hot to the point the temp light is on, but my fan runs constantly and my overflow bottle was almost empty.
I'm wondering if it boiled off or leaked out. I don't have any puddles forming under it, but that coolant went somewhere

Mine was low after a couple hard runs, no coolant found in the oil, so I am thinking it boiled off. Not too worried about it yet. I used Redline Water Wetter to fill the overflow up to the correct level. Use this in all my ATV's, seems to work also. Recently I Just flushed everything and went to Engine Ice. Definetly runs a few degrees cooler with Enginer ICe. Before I was always running right around 195-200 fan on and off a lot. I woudl say I am running about 10 degrees cooler with Enginer Ice

I got mine 3 weeks ago and have 203 miles on it and before every ride I have to top it off. Light is not coming on but fan is running some. Temp is running between 185 and 200when the fan kicks on. I've taking it to the dealer twice, they have topped it off. They cant say where it is going, but not to worry about the overflow as long as its in the radiator itself. I still top it off but will be switching at first service. I've ran engine ice in my 450ER but thinking of trying the summit be cool.

It's normal for the level to drop a little on a new machine..air pockets work out ..mine needed maybe 8 oz in the first 200 miles and then it stopped dropping. If it's significantly more than that it's going somewhere..check all the hose clamps ect..could be a little leak somewhere.

If it's really new it may just be low because there was still some air trapped in system and it worked its way out, filling that space with water, which has to come from the overflow tank and thus dropping the level in the tank. Mine was low after my first ride and I topped it off and it's remained full since. Mine runs around 185-195 degrees normally but sometimes gets as high as 199. My fan runs but not excessivly, usually not til it reaches about 196 or so I think. I don't know that the "normal" operating temp (ie. the thermostats set temp) actiually is but I'm guessing 190 from the way it acts.
