i recently just bought a brand new 2017 xp 1000 from a dealership here but it seemed funny from the beginning. First off i found it on ATV Trader listed is a ride command for $13,999. I called and the sales guy told me they recently bought out southbay motorsports along with all of their inventory and they found this 2017 in a crate buried in the back of the warehouse. I told him if its actually a ride command thats a crazy deal and ill be down immediately to get it, so he said he would double check. Turns out it was just the XP but still a good price, and between the 17 and 18 i dont believe there were any changes so i went and bought it anyways. I got it home and i pulled out the manual and it said 2018 rzr xp one it so i got a little confused and tried looking around on it for indications of the year, usually the VIN says it right? i couldn't find anything so i used a decoder online and it came up as an XP / High Lifter edition but still isnt telling me the year, but it does say the one recall was repaired. So i googled the 2017 xp 1000 and the carbon red one has different graphics and has red trailing arms and upper and lower control arms with white coils. Mine has the 18 graphics with red coils and all black trailing arms and control arms, did they mess up and sell me an 18 for $14k? or do i have a Frankenstein rzr that they slapped together with parts from both?

If it had these graphics with black trailing arms / a-arms and red springs, then it's a 2018. Is it possible that it was a 2018 that was released summer of 2017, and just got left in the back of the warehouse, so they thought it was a 2017? That's kind of a sloppy oversight on there part if that's what happened. But hey, you got a great deal out of it.

I’d call Polaris or your Dmv to run the vin to tell you for sure. Last thing you want is a Frankenstein that some shady dealer pieced together. Hopefully it is a true 18 and new as is.. if vin comes up 17 and you have 18 parts on it, that’s a bad thing as i would assume it was in some sort of accident.

I didn't even think about that. Yeah, I'd probably have Polaris check the VIN as well. Better to be safe than sorry.

It’s a 2018....there are too many things different. They wouldn’t have changed the shock springs from white. The 18’s were available at dealers in late July. Someone saw the build date and screwed up...congrats.
I waited to buy so that I could compare 17-18. I bought a 17 because I liked the graphics better, lower price and found that Polaris had geared 17’s down about 13% as they did with 18’s. You got a steal just learn to live with it, ha ha!
It costs too much to morph one

Only thing that’s throwing me a little is that your machine has a turbo hood on it. I do love the stripped graphics, and I think I’ll be pulling mine soon. Just wish the seats and springs weren’t red...
oh shit i probably should have made it clear that i put the turbo hood on. sorry. the graphics all came off easy accept on the hood an doors it left a ton of residue that i didnt feel like dealing with so i went over by ivan stewart and they stock turbo hoods for $90. the doors will obviously get replaced so i dont care about that residue either. i dont like the red either, it will be getting some PRP seats and im gonna take the coils in to have them blasted and powder coated bronze.

I’d bet it’s a 17 frame with 18 parts this happens with cars a lot. At the end of 17 they aren’t goin to throw the frames away it’s probably an early 18 with 17 frame frank will set it straight on Monday. Either way enjoy your ride and have fun
