Looking at doing the Viper Shifter for the Pro R, anyone running one or have any feedback or thoughts?

Is it worth it or stick 600.00 somewhere else ????????

I bought mine after the first ride with the factory shifter. The factory shifter just feels flimsy. I’m pretty confident in the gate and it looks and feels very nice. It’s a bit of a pain to install just because you have to remove the side panel of the center console. The instructions are terrible so that doesn’t help. I think if you need a gated shifter is worth it.

I just installed a viper shifter on my PRO R this week and I'm super happy to get a gated shifter back. The factory shifter is a damn joke on a $50K machine. As previously stated, factory stick is very flimsy and loose. It's a shame Polaris didn't include a gated shifter out the gate. I'd definitely recommend upgrading the POS stock shifter and disposing of it immediately! Well worth the money and fit and finish are spot on. Not difficult to install and there's a guy on YouTube that has a how-to.

I added a couple shims to my secondary clutch for a fraction of the cost. About $6 dollars and it shifts like butter. I strongly recommend doing that first. And for those who have already installed the viper, spend $6 more and get your secondary adjustment correct it should not be turning in park or neutral when at an idle.

You know, I was going to do the black version and at the last minute I changed to the "unfinished" / silver and I'm glad I did. There is no mistake when you look inside, there has been a custom shifter installed!! The silver is bling, bling! If you want more of a stock look or subdued then go black.

Because a lot of us do hill climbs and rocks and there’s times when the difference between being able to hit low or reverse quickly without looking will save you and the Rzr.
But as far as the shift knob, I already know I don’t like it. My buddy has one in his and I’ve spent a couple of hours driving it. I love the design of everything except the knob itself. When I do technical stuff Iv always got my hand on the shifter so it means more to me than some others . I love the way the Nrp feels but I do like the gated setup on the viper better.

I've had my shifter cover off....the only thing needed reminds me of the old B&M slap shifters (I think they call them megashifters)......just need a spring loaded stopper to keep it from going into park.....then you pull on that stopper to put it in park....really very simple technology, been around for decades.

The two things I don't like about the shifter is how far forward you need to go to put it in park, and how easily it slips into park (and every other gear) when you want reverse....no solid shift differences.
