If you are having problems with the ST spring at 200 miles. All springs settle. ST says to readjust the ride height at about 200 miles. Think the problem is not springs.
I’ve readjusted multiple times. Been sent new springs 2x over 1500 miles. I’ve talked with them on the phone and so has my mechanic. It’s not simply ride height that becomes a issue with keeping consistent but the springs get soft. Unfortunately so soft that you pretty much lose the ability to use comfort mode. Perhaps there is a issue with the internal components of the actual shocks themselves. I did have one replaced under warranty at around 300 miles (passenger rear) that one also currently has a bad leak at the bottom of the reservoir. Just to be clear I like Justin and the guys over at ST.

I appreciate the kind words. So what's happening with your springs?

Limit straps take some of the stress off the shocks and CVs. Not really necessary on a stock suspension machine but if you change springs or suspension geometry they are a good idea.
I’ve just not really had good luck with springs staying firm and keeping the machine with the same response. ST has sent me new springs once and their customer support IMO is on point. So I’m in no way bashing ST. Just thinking I need to try something different than what I’ve been doing. In part of this rebuild I am replacing all suspension with a Full HCR kit. Like I said before also getting the shocks completely rebuilt and tuned. Replacing a lot of parts right now and trying to also do what I can to take care of them. I was asking earlier if you could think of any downside of having limit straps on all 4 corners? I do have 2 different sets of tires I run. MRT 33” race tire and MRT 35” D-ROX. I put the info about tires because Sandblaster mentioned they cause issues.

If ST springs haven't worked for you maybe the Eibachs will accomplish what you're looking for.

Sounds like you'll have a nice setup. Are you doing LT or stock replacement?

No down side to limit straps on all four corners. Definitely not a bad idea when you go to a heavier tire. I've been running the 37" MRT X-ROX DD for several months now. I can't say I've been impressed with them. They work well on dry rocks and hard pack but less than impressive on east coast style rocks/terrain. IMO not nearly as good as Roxxzillas.

Machine is a 19” Turbo S 4 seater. Stock is 72” wide. I ordered the HCR dual sport kit. I don’t believe it changes any of the suspension geometry. I also was under the impression that 72” was considered LT. I know that different companies make a mid length kit for guys who want something in between 64” & 72”

I wasn’t super impressed with the X-ROX either but when I bought them I had been running the MRT race tires and Roxilla 35”s weren’t out yet. Weight for me is a issue and MRT’s are lighter than most. Also during this build I’m doing the evo dynomite turbo kit. I’ve been seriously considering doing a transmission reduction after I get the turbo and clutching all working right with all the changes I’m making. If I do the reduction I’ll definitely be getting a set of 35” roxillas. I’ve been told 51lbs & 55lbs on the RZ’s. Do you know a true weight??

And we just had a thread talking about why full face helmets and it was noted that safety harness can stretch as much as 3" on hard impact. One said this caused his head to hit steering wheel and bend it. Suspect it depends on tire size and how aggressive the machine is ran as to how or if they stretch and how much.
I haven't had the pleasure to wheel with Joe but I have followed his build and posted rides. If he hasn't put his straps to the test it's pretty unlikely the rest of us are going to. Like he mentioned, quality is key.

I have had the Sandcraft limit strap kit on my 19 Turbo S for the last 1500 miles. I was getting some serious loud clunking on my right front shock at full extension after I had them re-valved and re-sprung with Eibach springs. I did the kit on all 4 shocks. I ended up breaking the right front shock and thankfully I had that limit strap on there as it kept it the shock from coming completely apart. Because of that strap I was able to ride back to camp. The front straps on the sandcraft kit are 24 inches long. I can verify that they do stretch. Full shock extension on the Fox dynamix shocks is 26 1/4 inch as measured setting on my shock builders bench. I measured both straps after removing my front shocks once the right shock broke. Both straps measured 25 1/2 inches from center of mounting hole to center of mounting hole. They stretched 1 1/2 inches over 1.5K miles of very hard desert trail and rock crawling miles with lots of full shock extension. I have my front sway bar removed so I get full articulation on my front suspension.

I think the ST limit straps are very nice pieces but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Sandcraft kit either. They do not hit the tire at full compression either. If the ST straps had been available when I was looking for a kit I may have gone that route but I am totally satisfied with the Sandcraft kit.

Well after much debate on what I wanted to do for limit straps in the front I decided to make my own strap setup like I did on my rs1. I refuse to give ST any of my money even if it is a well made kit. As for st spring kits I have been there done that and never again. I'm running eibach springs on both my rs1 and turbo s. My turbo s I'm running a 8" 300 over a 10" 300lb spring in the front with 2" of crossover @ ride height and it works awesome! the rear I'm actually running a stock lower spring and a rzraid tender on top and it works very good. The rear setup was temporary until eibach springs came back in stock but it works so good I will probably leave it alone. If I do anything I may just add a crossover ring to the back to be able to bring in the main sooner because it's very soft. As for the sandcraft kit I think that strapping up the suspension in the front 2.25" is a bit much. 2.25 " is damn near 5" at the wheel so that seems crazy short. Cheap 2 or 4 ply straps will most definitely stretch especially on the front due to leverage forces. I ran 6 ply trail gear straps on my rs1 and they haven't stretched at all yet after 2000+ miles. My big thing is I want adjustability because for me I never know what place I may b and what situations I may get into. I also decided to do my upper strap mount to the frame with a adjustable clevis and not to the upper shock mount. This is how my rs1 is and it worked excellent. My parts list is as follows and all in stock at summit racing just down the street from me.

*Trail gear 16" limit strap x2
*Trail gear limit strap clevis kit x2
*Trail gear limit strap universal mount x2
*Allstar performance steel 1" long tapered spacers with .500 hole x2
*Arp m12x100mm bolts x2 (polished)
*Arp small od stainless washers x4

In total my parts list is 147 dollars for everything with my discount. I will be hopefully getting to making this setup early next week. Here is a picture of my rs1 with a very similar setup that I made. I will probably cheat a little bit and not make this a bolt on kit. I will most likely be welding the upper clevis mount directly to the chassis unlike how I did my rs1. With this setup I should be able to go from 1/2 of the shock strapped up to 3" depending on my needs. I know with my rs1 I normally run 1/2 strapped up.

I also wanted to add to the 35" roxxzilla postings. In my opinion the roxxzilla is hands down the best east coast or rock tire I've ever ran ind I've ran every size maxxis makes. Im not completely sure I trust those weight numbers for a 35x10x14. Because my 35" sticky roxxzillas on a sti 14x7 beadlock wheel weighed 62.5lbs on the money on a good calibrated scale. And I know the wheel weighed almost right at 14.5lbs. Now unless maxxis changed something drastic with the tire construction in the past 6 months to change the weight by close to 7lbs per tire I don't know. I just know those numbers do not correlate with the numbers I got. And as I recall I weighed one 35 with no wheel and it was pretty much exactly 48lbs.

If a 35” Roxilla does indeed weigh 48lbs that’s only about 4lbs over the 32” stock coyotes. I’d give up that 4lbs of rotating mass all day for 35” Roxillas.

I have a set of MRT 35” x-rox on method 401r’s on a Turbo S XP4. Ibexx clutch and never had any problems outside of brakes weren’t as strong. Speaking of brakes does anyone on here know who makes better aftermarket calipers for a Turbo S? Would be nice running heavier tires.

About 55 lbs on the 35x10x15 Roxzilla. 14" version is 57 lbs.

This whole maxxis roxxzilla weight thing is perplexing me now. Does anyone know if maxxis changed something with the roxxzilla recently that would effect the weight by 7-8 pounds? I bought my tires and weighed them in February of this year and the 35x10x14 sticky compound roxxzilla weighed 48.3 on my scale. My scale is a accurate calibrated race care digital scale I will add. I'm about to start a whole new tire weight thread here. It seems that there is a lot of conflicting numbers on tire weights. I'm just very curious if something changes with the tire. I also found this back when I was thinking of going up to a 35 from my roxxzilla 32s on my turbo s. I said the same thing that my 35" combo would only b a few pounds more that a stock setup.

Looking forward to hearing true weight on these tires. Another thing that is often a discussion on the trail is true measurement mostly on the height. Very very few I’ve found ever measure true to size regardless of air pressure. Weight? True size?? With what air pressure??? Thank you for making a specific thread. Tag me in it as well please.
