Trouble selecting gears

I picked up my 900 xp new a few months ago, and I have been having a problem with selecting gears lately. I move the shifter into a position L,H,R doesn't matter. The indicator will say -- when not in gear and sometimes I will think I'm in a gear and the indicator says I'm in L, H, or R but when I give it gas it grinds the crap out of the gear. Let off the gas and the indicator will still say it's still in gear. Wiggle the shifter a little and it will click into gear and then it will work looked it should. Does anyone else have this issue?

My 2011 does the same thing (only in reverse) since new. I found a little trick to it though. When you select reverse and feel you are in the grove, apply a slight pressure on the shifter towards park. Careful not to press too hard so it doesn't go in between gears though. Worked for me every time.

I've got a 2011 that seems the same way. The shifter does not have a positive feel when putting into gear - the 800 I had prior was somewhat better but not perfect. Is there a detent spring/ball that can be changed to help with this or is it all inside the transmission? I'm under warranty as well, but if it's "normal" no need to try and get it fixed.

I just ordered new RacerTech shifter bushings to help tighten up the mechanism, that may help who knows.

I received the RacerTech bushings today for the brake, shifter and gas pedal. What a difference it makes - those plastic bushings were sloppy and bone dry. I also added the parking brake mechanism they offer - very nice..

I had time for a quick ride, IMO it feels much better with the gear selection more pronounced. Time will tell, but a nice investment in my time.

I just picked up a 570 for my kids last Saturday and I have the same problem with it. It's like theres not enough click into each gear position. I'd like to put in a better spring but who wants to open the trans on a brand new machine. My 2012 900 has a nice click into position.

I have the same problem. 2014 900. Seems as though there is a little give in all positions. I just put it in position give it a bit of a wiggle and slides in every time. Stopped grinding gears. Might check out the bushing replacements. Heading out for 7 day trip. Guess I'll see how bad it is day to day. Figured maybe it would loosen up once broke In a bit more as I only have 8 hrs on it. Any experience on that?

Not sure on the break-in question on your 2014. One other thing I found while installing the bushings - the cable system tends to have some free-play in it, that would seem to add to the issue. I didn't adjust the cable - ran out of time but that will be my next change to see if it get's even better. I'd like to see if those bushings can be found @ the hardware store - they seem like std. bushings I've seen prior. Only issue may be the ID/OD.
