Squeaky Shocks

So I've only got about 30 miles on the RZR but I'm starting to notice a squeak sound coming from the rear shocks. Almost sounds like metal rubbing on metal. It goes away when wet. So what do I need to grease? Thanks in advance.

You don't say what shocks you have but rear squeeks can be from several places. One is the rear outer carrier as Cliff said, another can be the shock bushing themselves if you have Fox shocks, they are dry from the factory. Look up the Fox Podium Maintenance thread for the various fixes. And last, but not least is the sway bar mount. It has zerk fittings on each end, but people have noted that even if greased, the grease doesn't penetrate all the way around and will squeek like crazy. I can't say I've had this problem, because the sway bar was the first thing to go in the trash on my S.

If you are working on Foxes, there is a heim inside the outer bushings, this is where the squeek usually is. To remove the heim there is a tiny snap ring on each side. I used a dental pick to get mine out. You may not have to remove the heim to clean and lube it. I got tired of fighting it and installed a set of Super Dave's Delrin Bushings. One final note, overtightened shock bolts can cause issues also. The torque specs for all the shock bolts is 27-33 ft/lb.

Ok guys I greased all the zerks and used wd40 on all the places u guys mentioned and the noise went away until I got it wet again. The next time I rode the noise was worse than ever. So I'm thinking ive found the right spots but need to take it apart and get some waterproof grease into those joints. Am I thinking correctly on this?

I wouldn't drill my a arm. You create a weak point and lower the total strength of the arm. Before anybody slams me on this comment get your engineering notebook out and do the statics and strengths on the arm.

I would rather be riding but here I am using tapatalk!!!

Whenever I do my shock maintenance I lube the a-arm pivot points, and I lube the outer upper bearing carrier by removing the bolt and cleaning and lubing that joint. Also, while lubing the zerks I cycle the suspension up and down by hand (shocks and tires removed and you'll have to disconnect the sway bar, I don't run one) to work the grease into the a-arm bushings under no load. If you try to do it with any liad on the a-arms, you may not get the grease all the way into the bushings. I use Green Grease and had good luck with it.

I'd rather be riding in the desert than using Tapatalk!
