I think it faces back so you don't get debris in there while driving. Dust and snow could get down there much easier if facing for ward. I just built my own snorkel kit and it definitely runs better.

Runs better is what I like to hear ! Can you hear yours sacking air ? I like to hear the engine taking in all that air !! I have an Alba fuel controller on mine, ...do you think I will have to adjust the fuel controller ?

 

It is much louder than before. She barks a little now. Lol. Are you purchasing a kit or building one?

 

Mine is stock and Ithe runs good. Not sure if you will have to adjust anything.

 

You'll definitely hear it. I didn't snorkel mine but I put the air filter up through the bed removable panel.... man you definitely can hear it sucking air. In fact its louder than the exhaust now... but hey sounds nice so i'm okay with it.

 

Every bike Ive ever snorkeled has face the rear of the machine. Always ran fine. Not really forcing any air in...it will pull enough needed to run perfect facing back just fine.

When I deleted my airbox my 570 wouldn't pull it's own ass out of its way. Put the air box back on and good again. Ended up putting a new filter in, silicone it up and the top of the snorkel I put a frogskin over it. Facing forward sitting on top of my roof with a guard over it to protect it from trees.
