I have one that I purchased from Swingarm1, I love the performance. I am getting a little frustrated with the dialing in of the clutch. I have 81 grams and that is all the weight they sent me with the clutch kit and its still not enough. I am currently running 8 lbs of boost and this thing will do 0-60 in 5 seconds. Tim (Swingarm1) helped me get through the install and the tuning of it. I called Tim at Silber as well and he has been a huge help. I just wish I could get the clutch weights right. I don't think you could come even close to the performance gained for the money any other way. The fit and finish of it looks awesome and it bolts right up. You could very easily return it to stock if needed as well. Good luck with your decision!
I have put over 300 hard miles on it since I installed the turbo. I have not adjusted or worked on anything since install other than the clutch. This is truly an awesome kit, I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact I think I will be getting another one or a 4 seater soon as the family is really enjoying this one and when I do I will turbo right away. I installed this one with 80 miles on my rzr.
So how much Boost can you run on a stock motor, with pump gas? I think im gonna go this route for some extra power, but don't want to mod the motor or buy the high octane fuel.
Pump gas 91 I would stay close to 8. My kit was set about 10 with the wastegate they come with. U can only adjust a built in wastegate so much before it flutters.
1st gen Silber kit they plumbed the Donaldson opposite of how any regular person would do it. I sucked sand the way it was done. Which pissed me off bad. Had to redo my intake and mount the box above my bed. Since then I think they have changed the inlet and outlets to the proper design of the box.
Also early Silber kit came with dobeck controller. Its ok but now they use power commander 5... Wonder why??? Hmmm.. I changed mine to that with an auto tune.( they dont use auto tune) and it runs incredibly better. So after initial purchase of 3500 plus 600 on new PC5 with auto tune. Redo intake hoses and routing 150. It runs good at 9-10 lbs of boost on e85. Head shims is installed with beehive valve springs about 500.. and manual cam chain tensioner about 175 .. The rest is stock 600 dune and desert miles..I love it now. Hauls butt..
Haven't..set it and leave it. The factory one is on a spring and it can jump timing easier. Auto tune is nice. It makes it so when your not in boost you can cruise where you want your afr to be.... Better fuel mileage. It ran so dang rich before in the 10 11 range. Silber kit comes mapped on pc5. I didnt buy through them so it might run good. I made my own maps.
Can you post a few more pics? IM thinking real hard about the Silber kit.....but I am concerned about running it in any mud/ deep water, and summers in the Midwest are spent in deeper water. Im not really a mud guy, but I will get in some on occasion.
Did the Donaldson air intake setup come with the kit??
The Donaldson comes with the kit. Its to be mounted under the bed. They have it redesigned to use proper under there now. Before they had the inlets and outlets backwards and I didnt like the pipe they supplied. I made my solution like this..
hope that helps I got lucky my Dg cage lined up perfect to use axia alloy clamps to hold canister. My clutch cover is easy to access now and the filter doesnt block my bed for storage.
Price-wise the Silber is in direct competition with the Packard. Does anybody know how they compare. I need one that can handle East coast trail riding.
i installed the head shim on mine( i never ran it without) and im only making about 7-8 psi. i had hell getting it tuned, not very impressed with the controler.im looking into the auto tune. im still running a little rich but id rather have it that way than the other. it runs great im happy with it i also moved my air box into the bed. under the bed is just plain stupid. the only problem im having is that i ride in the desert with long open full pulls at boost and being water cooled the turbo makes to much heat for my radiator to cool and im running about 215-220 deg. so i ordered a cbr replacement cooler and hopefully that helps. anyone else having that issue?
Install a separate radiator for the turbo and that will elimate your engine heat problem... The CBR will help but not totally eliminate the heat issue...
A Bosch water pump with a smaller radiator & fan will do the trick ...
