RZR FULL HYDRO steering

Hey guys, here's a walk around video of the full hydraulic steering my brother and I built, its a little hard to get a good view of the ram but gives you a good idea of how well it works, we have tested it for the last 2 riding seasons and has worked great with zero breakdowns. I think this could be next upgrade for people with 32"+ tires, tracks or any other monster truck sized RZR.
(sorry for the screechy tires)

The ram is custom made by a professional hydraulic shop with the best seals available and can be rebuilt/serviced, its all steel construction and is a direct bolt in replacement for your steering rack it even accepts the OEM tie rods.

The pump is ........kinda secret but its electric and can make up to 1700 psi and is very reliable

Standard off the shelf orbital, can select the volume which will determine the speed of the ram 1 turn lock to lock - up to 2.5 lock to lock

Large reservoir with filter

SS braided lines rated to 3000 psi

Cooler that fits behind a turbo hood vent

So far every thing is bolt in with no cutting/drilling required. It is expensive particularly the ram since its custom made but I would guesstimate a complete kit would be approx 1600 -1800 range ... kinda up there but would prob turn a 42" without breaking a sweat

Let me know what you guys think .... it's def something different on a RZR prob the first ever electric hydro setup for a SXS.

Hey, it takes a lot of the steering feedback out, ruts/roots /rocks wont really jar the steering wheel much, it does have an internal pressure relief valve so it wont crush your tie rods if it encounters an non-movable object.
Steering angle is the same as factory, I kept the ram the exact same length and stroke as the oem rack, also have it mounted in the exact same spot as the oem rack so all the steering geometry is identical to the factory setup.... I hate bump steer so made sure it was spot on.

Thanks for the kind comments

Hey Chanz, we just about have the 2.0 setup done for the XP Pro, Turbo S and RS1 and will be building a setup for the XP/T and Ranger XP next. I have a prototype set going down to my friend in Utah for testing at Sand hollow on a custom stretched RS1 on 37's that will have hydro rear steer as well.... should be a beast.

Still working on the cost, the custom parts are expensive but get better with volume so we will do our best to keep it affordable

Got a question regarding the Hydro Steer.

I have built my xp1000 up with Portal and 35's and it is too hard to steer now. The factory & E-Power steering units did not work with my set-up.

Would you be able to help me out with a much need Hydro Steer unit. I am unable to find any info regarding manufactures or part components.

Thanks Again,

Captain Dave

Well look at that, hydro steering and someone is actually considering an rs1! (Same as turbo S)
Might just be the thing since sandcraft so far dont want to work w me on a kit for the stabilizer, kit is $800 ish, half my way to hydro steering at this rate.
Def have to follow this one.

Yup, Joe nailed it's def a game changer the steering power is effortless even with monster sized tires, I will only be running heavy 35's but we will be testing it with liquid filled 37 or 40's so looking forward to see how it handles that down in Sand Hollow.

Metro, it weights probably 25-30 pounds in total so not that heavy over stock, You will have to re-centre the wheel or just use a steering wheel that works / comfortable in any position, as long as you don't keep turning the steering wheel when the ram reaches its max stroke the steering wheel stays relatively centred.... it does not take long to get used too.

SSG, the XP Pro, RS1 and Turbo S will all use the same sized ram and ram mount so it works out well for all the units with the larger front diff.

I have 5 guys fully committed and ready to buy when it’s ready. We all have XP’s and turbo s on portals and this should be the answer to our problems. My number is (970) 371-0053 please keep me informed as it gets closer to availability

Yeah i am in middle of stretching, portals and larger tires right now. Trying to address steering and called sandcraft, they wont sell a turbo S body with xp1k tie rods “bc its an rs1” and so ill take my money else where to find a solution. This is def a strong candidate now that ive seen joes machine in person and then he switched to hydro.

edit 1: thats curious the pro xp would ise the same, ill have to research PNs etc and maybe open up more doors for rs1’s. Amazing the rs1 comes out with something and its transplanted to newer models but no support for the rs1. If theyd just make a turbo model, youd see all the companies come crawling back and be waay behind the 8 ball.

You realize it would be super simple, and relatively inexpensive to just have a machine make custom tie rods for you right?

SSG, you could try a set of XP Pro tie rods since their both 64" machines should get you pretty close.

Crash City, its pretty good, it only draws 6 amps or so during normal use but can draw a lot more if you hit the pressure relief or a un-movaable object but is a only a quick spike. Ive ran it off a single battery for a season and it performed perfect but I usually run two batteries 1st one for starting / steering and the second for lights and all other accesories

So, looked up the xp pro parts on polaris and its a no go. Although, they do list the individual parts for inner and outter tie rods.
Looked up sandcraft site, no pro xp setup as of yet but its the pro xp so of course its being figured out.
Ill probly do the hydro steer in the other thread at this rate. Back up would be turbo s kit and cut down/modify tie rods

Thanks Joe and Crash, we are going to get the XP/T setup going on next. It should take less time since some of the parts are the same as my 900S which we have the brackets for already.

Here's a question for the XP1000 guys stick with the 14mm size tie rods or switch up to the turbo size 16mm tie rods? I'm thinking most would want to run the larger 16mm... let me know
