Ok, so it gets pretty hot in AZ, has anyone found a suitable small AC unit for RZR's yet?
They make an HVAC ranger. Wonder if it would be possible to swap one of theirs into a razor ?
Exactly! I'm glad somebody posted this before people started buying that Vintage Air unit and found out it's only ~half the system.Vintage Air 11401-VUX-A - Vintage Air Slim Line Underdash Systems - Overview - SummitRacing.com looking into it myself as well, cool thiing is, this system is self contained and not very big, hope this helps!
That is just the evaporator/blower motor assembly. Not a self contained complete a/c system.its all in one self contained unit, i dunno how they get it to work being that compact but for $339 for heat and air running on 12v not to bad if you ask me, i checked the dimensions and it looks like it may fit under the rzr dash but it may have to hang over the passengers floor board a littlehow dose it work
You still need the condenser and compressor.
Got to compress the freon, condense it, then evaporate it, for a complete refrigeration cycle.
And that evap is big for an RZR. The matching compressor would be a 5-10hp drain on your motor...at idle.
But it could be done.
Use that above mentioned evap assembly.
Mount a small import car type rotary compressor. Use the brackets/belts like the UTV crap alternator kit does.
Use a matching condenser coil mounted like the water to air turbo intercoolers up front, with electric fan. Do the refrigerant plumbing and wiring/switches/relays. And of course you need a full enclosed cab.
Good to go, RZR with a/c option :rofl3:....
Probably true - but it would still be cool to see somebody swap the Ranger AC setup over. They make an HVAC ranger. Wonder if it would be possible to swap one of theirs into a razor ?
Might be cheaper just to buy the Ranger. Drive the Ranger during the hot season and drive your RZR during the cooler months. Problem Solved. I to wish they made a HVAC RZR edition but I think the next in line to get HVAC is going to be the General.
I also would like to know if there's a way to put AC on a razor. I am considering one for multi-use both on and off highway out of Las Vegas Nevada. While it's fine to go at higher altitudes or higher speeds when you're driving it in an urban area you still need to survive in the heat.Ok, so it gets pretty hot in AZ, has anyone found a suitable small AC unit for RZR's yet?
What he said sounds like a plan.I guess if I needed all the HVAC, I would be looking seriously at the Ranger XP that has it all from the factory.
Never saw this thread before until tonight. This was the hottest summer I can remember here in PA hands down. Plus add having to wear a stupid mask half the day it was unbearable. I did not do much riding at all this summer just because I needed my weekends to recover from the week in the AC of my house. But an AC in my RZR would have changed that I think. One of these and sit it on you floor board on the passenger side and plug into your 12 volt plug, This or one of those 5 gallon home depot solid block of ice DIY. LOL.
That reminded me of the Red Green Show from years ago. He did the same thing to the Possum Van so his ice cream would not melt on the long trip from town back to the Possum Lodge. What a great show. I miss it. Fixed everything with duct tape except ducts. That required scotch tape. His motto was.. If the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy.Florida... I hear banjos playing again...

Florida Man's Monstrous Aftermarket AC System Is a Wild Way to Beat the Heat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziVZkDtGtzw There are two types of weather in Florida: hot and slightly less hot. The best way to keep cool during those usual sweltering conditions in the Sunshine State (if you're not in close proximity to a pool) is to get to a place with air conditioning and...altdriver.com
So TJ is kind of on the right track. I’ve put some time into this and even had a few small discussions with satv. The idea behind the cooling shirt really works but as you find out it’s only good for so many hours. After that you’re kinda screwed. So I had done some testing at my work (factory) with a cooling shirt and the recommended latching ice chest with various ice/water combos. It does work quite well but as said, after X amount of hours it’s done. Also it works well for C amount of time if you were to disconnect from it to get out and say winch. Soo, having spare time and a few extra ($300ish) I ordered from slow boat a micro 12V AC system. I had planned to change the cold side for a flat plate exchanger and the other side of it would go to a water tank of sorts. This would chill the water and remove heat as your body puts it in. It does have a rheostat to turn it up and down some as well. Bc trust me when the ice water is fresh it’s really cold. You can find these units on the web and even see the compressor the size of soda cans. I still have all the parts to include self closing quick detach valves, shirt, AC, flat plate exchanger, etc. I wasn’t gonna let the cat outta the bag until I tested it but I’ve been soo slow at projects to include stretching the rs1, I might as well through it out there and maybe someone else can make it happen before me.Exactly! That said, I think you'd be better off giving a cool-shirt a try like race drivers use. They circulate water through a cooler, then through a special shirt with tubes run around it.

Can you share what you did? ThanksI built a overhead fan system with variable speed controller, best thing I dne
