Ride Command doesn't have the Alpine Loop?

It's one of the most popular trail systems in Colorado, yet Ride Command is woefully inadequate in this area. I don't know much about how that is maintained, am I missing something? It sure did surprise me when I went into the app to plan our ride.

If you are coming to Colorado, one of the best mapping systems you can get is COTREX.

It's free!!!!!

It stops working at the borders of Colorado. The mapping, trails and information is superior to anything you can get from Garmin, Lorance, RideCommand, OnX.. . . anybody!! It's what mapping should be but, it's just for Colorado. Put out by the State of Colorado, CPR and CPW. Its incredible the information it gives you.

Put it on your phone or tablet. Ride the trail with Ride Command tracking you and your phone or tablet handy.

I've played with Cotrex a bit, since I live here in Colorado. I like it as well. I just like Ride Command too (when it has the trail), but you've given me a good reminder to check out Cotrex again.

AllTrails is another option - you can set up a free account,
there is also a Pro version that has a fee, but lets you download maps for for offline use.
I've used alltrails a lot on the past for hiking, but I don't like it for OHV. They label almost everything as hard, and their app isn't ideal for realtime gps tracking (I use a tablet mounted in my rzr).

Not to de-rail your question too much but-

I have discovered the "map" feature on RC is good. Not great. The GPS system on RCwill always show you where you are but, the markings on trails are not so good. Some don't match trail names or numbers.

It's still better than running out of cell coverage or not installing the correct map on Avenza. Or, having to pay money to Gaia or others for additional maps when your map coverage runs out. RC will always show you where you are at. The name of the county road or trail may be wrong, but you know where you are at.

The group ride function is incredible!!!!! Love it!! Best feature on RC!!

Any more, I bring a paper map and/or an alternative map system (iPad) to compliment or supplement Ride Command.

Drop way points and track your ride as you go.

I've had pretty good luck with RC overall, I was just surprised that they didn't have the alpine loop. Not to worry, I have plenty of other options. I do agree that the group ride function is awesome. Unfortunately I can't really use it since I use the app on tablet, and not the native unit built into rzrs. I can hook up with other riders, but only if they run in "cell mode" and not "point-to-point" mode, which they'll never do, and I don't blame them because that means group ride will only work when you're within cell coverage, instead of using the RC's p2p antenna.

It sucks that RC don’t have it already mapped, but once you ride it a time or two, should solve that problem. I have hundreds of back trails mapped in W. Va.
