Anyone ever removed their primary clutch without the removal tool or made a tool? Getting ready to install a 3p clutch kit on my 2015 900s and don't have a clutch puller or compression tool. Was wondering if anyone has ever done this and looking for any kinda tips. Thanks

X2 but puller are not so expensive and if you break the belt and want to clean the primary specially behind it, due the some string from belt can end up there and are know to destroy a rear crank seal, the puller is worth it then. IMO

Agreed, you can install a kit without pulling the clutch. However, in the event you do decide you want/need to remove it, DO NOT go about trying to rig something up or using a questionable homemade tool. At the end of the day, when it's broke off inside your primary you will be kicking yourself for not spending the $50 to just get the tool you needed.

You don't need a tool for any of it, and you can put secondary spring in with your hands on this clutch assuming it is a 900S

But as mentioned, please do not use some other method, get the right puller. Lots of people end up cutting their clutch off with a torch or other tool after doing that

The tool just makes the install easier and you need it to do a cleaning every now and then

There is a link to the puller if you need one

Seems like many have done this with the clutches still on bike so it must not be too bad. Guess I will give it a shot. What about a compressor for the secondary? If I'm not mistaken there's a snap ring you have to remove and it helps to compress it.

It's doable with the primary clutch still installed...Just not quite as accessible as it would be on the bench. The secondary comes right off without a puller, just take the bolt out of it and slide it off. The secondary can be compressed by hand
