My XP4 has started making a clicking noise in the rear. The noise occurs when going forward in low and high in 2wd and 4wd, but not reverse, neutral or when pushing. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Mine was also the rear brake pads. There's a mod/fix on here somewhere for that that uses thin strips of sheetmetal. Thats what I did to mine rather than than tightening the bolts.
I checked the brakes. They are not causing the noise. I lifted the rear end and ran in 2wd. No noise. No noise in reverse or when pushing in neutral. Could this be a CV going out or a gearbox bearing failure?
I had a wierd rear cv joint on mine. Only done it with 2 people in it, only forward and when turning left. It loaded the axle harder. I ran it about a 100 miles and it's got slightly worse. Finally sat down and looked at the mechanics of it and figured hub bearing, axle, or rear diff bearing. Swapped axles and Bingo. Hope this helps. I had no play or torn boots.
Either a CV or more likely brake pads. Only way to get brake pads to make noise is when going forward and low enough engine rpm's to hear them. caliper mounting is poorly designed and can be fixed a multitude of cheap ways, search youtube and you will find a multitude of good videos. If not pads then probably a CV
