Ok, so my rcv 1 piece prop shaft should be here today! I have a couple of questions. My 2017 xp1000 already has a nice steel drive shaft tunnel. The new shaft comes with a metal loop just in case the shaft fails. should I keep the tunnel or use their loop? also rcv suggested I get a new roll pin to keep it tight. I know on my old 800 I used a bolt. Is anyone else using a bolt through the front diff? If so, size/ grade?

Installed. A couple of tips. lift the rear end to full droop. There is a gasket when you take apart the rear cv. Best to leave the gasket on the orange part while installing. I had to unbolt the front diff to move it forward an angle it so I could slide the shaft on. On my 17 the brake line runs right beside the shaft. There is a line holder that looks like it contacts the shaft. Best to remove this holder before installing the shaft. There is a hole on the drivers side where the factory tunnel is mounted. I zip tied the line there. Took about an hour to install. Don't forget the loctight. I had to undo 3 bolts on the cv cause I was in a hurry. I have to go to work, buy a roll pin or bolt. Hopefully it will resolve all of my vibration and noise. will post later. I took some pics if anyone is interested?

OK! Just a quick update. Yes, it was $1000. pricey I'll admit. It is absolutely smooth now. No vibration, no noise. The shaft looks like butter at all rpm's. Before it sounded like my front end was going to jump out of the machine. Worth every single penny. There is no doubt that if I would have allowed the vibration/ noise to continue something would have given out. Happy riding!

The $1000 is worth it if you are hard on your machine.

The OEM shaft bends easily, and can lead to transmission output shaft/snorkel shaft failure, which if not fixed immediately can require a new transmission or full rebuild. I kept having shafts bend and eventually my snorkel shaft snapped in half.

BTW, we offer free shipping on RCV products for rzrforum members, so at least you can save a little $$ over direct.

Quick question. I put about 1 mile on it yesterday, went out to check everything and noticed grease around the front cv of the prop shaft. Started to worry. Checked the rear and same thing? Is this normal? There were no bands or straps around the boot. I'm assuming/ hoping that it's just the pressure of the cv pushing grease out and it will eventually stop? I have the same question in with rcv but I'm not taking it into any mud or water until I have an answer.
