Can you use Rain-x on polycarbonate? Has anyone tried it? I have a Po Po OEM Windshield. I think its Polycarbonate. I was afraid it might yellow or discolor making difficult to see out of. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I put it on my "well used" Ranger windshield, which is polycarbonate. I read the bottle, and saw the note about plastic, but though i would give it a try on the bottom piece as a test. It doesn't dis-color anything and seems to work. i did the whole thing and it seems to work well.

I bought a full windshield from EMP and with it came a sample of All Kleer for plastic windshields. It is made by the Black Lab Corp. Says it cleans, polishes, repels dust and inhibits fogging. When I applied it, it left a smooth feel and while riding this past weekend the water just rolled off with no problem. Just my 2 cents.

From my Goldwing motorcycle days, Rain-X is made for glass only. It will dull the finish on 'plastic' (poly, etc) windshields.

I used a good quality wax on the windsheild of the bike and it worked pretty good.

There are other products like Rain-X for plastic.

denatured alcohol works well. i've used it alot in my rc hobby on the lexan car bodies to clean them before painting.

Went to the GL1800riders.com (Goldwing) forum and did a search and found that the most recommended was Plexus, Novus, or Rejex for motorcycle windshields.

Several recommended a good quality wax. That's what I did to mine. Makes the bugs easy to get off and sheds water.

I think when they say don't use on plastic they mean stuff like plexiglass. I think poly is a little tougher than that stuff.

I know this is an old thread, but I used rain-x on my goggles a few weeks ag (brand new pair of Scott brand). Well, as I rode, I kept getting some kind of debris inside the lens (it was at night) and once we stopped, I realized it was the foam dust filter on the top and bottom breaking down and turned it to powder. My slip streamer brand windshield says not to use it and says it will cause "crazing" whatever that word means?
