I have a 2010 Walker Evans with 70 miles on it and I noticed a pop this weekend when turning hard to the left. I have read the post about the washer but haven't seen any since 2009 so I wonder if the 2010 has the extra washer from the factory and this problem is something else. Any suggestions would be great. I plan to pull the wheels tonight and grease and re-torque the hub nut.
Thanks
Jody

Yea 70 miles isn't much at all. I've had CV headaches on ATVs and it really sucks.

If you find a boot is punctured my advice would be to upgrade to an HD axle and boot. To have a CV rebuilt at a shop somewhere is around $200 bucks. For that price you could almost buy an HD axle and have all new CVs, plus some added strength.

I hope I understand what your'e asking here...

Yes, with new axles you can still get holes in the CV boots and have to replace them. However, for almost the same price as replacing the stock CV the OP could have new axles and new CV's, but stronger then the OEM equipment.

I was curious if this could be the same sound im hearing. i have a 4-seater and when i back up or go foward then turn my wheels left or right i hear what sounds like a "air pop sound". I wasnt for sure if this could be the SS shock relasing air for some reason or what it could be.. I placed a thread in the "suspension blog" but i got no replies.. can someone help me here?? Thanks...

Just one pop Derek? Or multiple pops when you keep the wheel turned?

To me, A single pop would indicate you have something loose in your front end and when you turn on way or another the loose connection "settles" making that single pop sound. Check all 4 hubs for play, check all 4 shock mounting points around your 4, check front and rear sway bar, check tie rods for play.

If multiple, Your'e more than likely looking at one of the things discussed in this thread. Let us know what you find!

Didn't think about that. Good possibility it could be a bearing. Stand on the side of your 4 and grab the top of the tires and rock the tire toward and away from you. If you have any movement in and out in the tire your looking at a bad wheel bearing or a loose or cracked hub more than likely.

You might want to check the torque on the pinch bolts holding the ball-joints in place, I once had one work loose and create a flat spot on both the bolt and ball joint. When these two flat spots came together it would pop. Felt real bad when turning while that wheel was at full droop. Spec calls for 17 ft lbs, Ive always ran at least 20

Hey Derek, do you feel anything ...steering wheel, seat of your pants or is it just a sound?

I feel a Slight stiffness in the steering wheel when the wheel turns and then the "pop" or the air sound "Tshhhh" takes place. Nothing in the seat in my pants only the pucker factor cuz i dont want anything to break
