Polaris Winch Clocking?

My local dealer had a deal on a Polaris 3500 winch so I figured what the heck. Install went well with one exception. The terminal on the winch motor is facing down towards the control arm. I have Super ATV control arms, they are clearanced for the winch but that terminal is uncomfortably close to the arm. I'm concerned if i slam the front end into the ground I might break that off and it would lead to a bad day.

To be honest the entire winch seems to be a bit close to the arm, but having the terminal down that way has really got me puckered.

Anyone have feedback on this? Can the motor be rotated a bit? Maybe I'm nuts and think that front suspension has a lot more travel than it does?

Yeah, you should be able to loosen or remove tge 3 or 4 bolts for the flange that is retaining the motor to the winch its self, this will allow you to clock the motor where you want.

Well, i haven't done that on a specific polaris winch but ive done it on atleast 5 others of various brands.

Give it a try.

If its centered on the fairlead, and the fairlead is mounted to the rzr and not the winch, not going to be much you can do.

If the motor sticking out is an issue, it may be more worth your time to measure what you have and then compare that measurement to another model of winch and or another brand.

For future reference if this ever comes up, you can remove these two bolts and there is a pre threaded hole to put the terminals in the 3 and 9 o clock position. Course I tore the whole whinch down to find this out. I didn’t want to remove them and risk damaging the connections. Coulda been done in the car.
Now, I gained a bit of room and there is no worry about hitting the terminal but it’s still a tad close.
