Hey guys!!! Let me start off by saying that I am extremely paranoid about the whole air/dust problem and I check my intake and oil constantly. As far as I can tell I haven't sucked in any dirt, but believe I'm going to go ahead and brake down and buy the DF intake. My questions are 1) is it normal to burn any oil at all? It has been three months since I have changed the oil and I have gone about 150-200 miles during that time. My dipstick read right ABOVE the second dot, now it is EXACTLY UNDER the second dot. 2) I'm idling between 1250-1300 rpm's, is this also normal? I don't remember what it was when I first got it. I have about 40hrs and 120miles on mine and i checked the oil before my last outing and it was dead on full. but i dont ride in dust just water and mud.
from the top of the dot to the bottom of the dot isnt a hole lot of oil.. if your rzr is off level half an inch it would prolly show that low...
I have about 1300mi, over 80hrs and no oil burning yet, knock on wood. I am concerned about the dust problem. I took the RZR apart, cleaned the intake, greased all the boot connections, installed a UNI filter, just like all the desert racers do but there is very light dust on the butterfly. It is a super fine dust, I live in So. Cal. There are 7 of us with RZR's, one bit the dust already, literally. So the rest bought the UMP's ($320) they come with a new boot to the throttle body. Totally sealed unit, goes back into the airbox behind the seat. Shame an AMERICAN Co. ya the same ones who cry to buy american dont do something. I guarantee Honda or Suzuki would have a fix.
