Ordered Some New ELKA Shocks...

I've been on the fence for a while now, trying to figure out what I want to do with regards to "fixing" my stock RZR (non S) shocks. At 500 km, the springs are sagging too much for my liking and I'm losing valuable ground clearance out on the trail. I thought I was going to go with Makin' Trax progressive springs, but I'm still stuck with the stock shock bodies and limited preload adjustments even though I have heard tons of positive remarks with these springs.

A good friend of mine has the ELKAs on his RZR and is very happy with them.

I've spent a great deal of money in the USA for my RZR and numerous mods (I live in Canada), and with the far and few Canadian manufacturers of offroad gear, I decided to sink my dough into ELKA (based out of Quebec).

It's very easy to get into the thousands of dollars for aftermarket shocks...and I didn't want to go that route, so I decided to get the Stage 1 shocks for sidexsides. The fronts (E36)only have preload adjustment, and the rears (E36R) are dual springs with rebound adjustment. These are the specs for my customs built shocks - spring rate on the front is 275pnds/in and rear is a dual rate set up (2 springs on the rear shocks), top spring is 900pnds/in and main is 250pnds/in

I'm looking forward to getting these shocks bolted up...I will be sure to post pics once I get them in a couple of weeks.

Anyone else have these shocks and care to let me (us) know what you think of them???

Thanxs

Elka's came with my +4 from LoneStar. Still think it is stiffer then stock and wish I had never spent the money. First six weeks I had it I would get headaches. Now I'm just used to the stiff ride. After months of begging Elka finally told me the adjustments I should have, and I was within a few clicks. So that wasn't the problem. So it's either the springs, the valving, or whatever.

Is this your first set of Elkas? Sorry, too many pro racers run them. Sure there are other manufactures out theer making shocks. Elkas are quality products. If you provide the correct info on weight and riding style you will be good to go. Probably not set upright.

When I spoke with ELKA, I made it clear what my weights were (including mods, lift kit, winch, etc.) and my riding style...with this info, I'm hoping what they are going to build for me will be sufficient for my RZR. For me, maintaining ground clearance is important, which may sacrifice my low speed comfort, i.e., stiff, harsh ride. I will be sure to let y'all know what I think of my ELKA shocks once they arrive.

Hey Bil, I think you made a wise choice. ELKA's are a proven product. I am still undecided on which way I will go. I too am interested in maintaining ground clearance for trial riding (and sometimes making my own trail ie: over deadfall, rocks, stumps etc., as I'm sure you can relate) which is one reason I am leaning towards the Legend Air Suspension. Anyway, I hope the Elka's arrive soon so can give us a success report.
cheers

Of course it's not set up right. However, these shocks were custom to the +4 kit for the RZR. Maybe it's great for racing. Maybe the guy that set it up thought stiff meant better. Maybe his rzr weighed a lot more then mine. Basically I spent thousand of dollars and now I can change the pre load, the springs, the valving, and the latest is the nitrogen pressure. Where to start? Took two months of calling just to get how many clicks should be on the shocks. So I'm supposed to pull them off and send them through customs for what?

I've got Elka's & like the way they handle with the front sway bar removed.
