I took delivery Thursday of last week and took the machine on a large ride this weekend. I had a 2014 1000XP and put 3400 miles on it. Right off from the start i was easy on it following the break in methods Polaris recommends. So as the day wore on and i finally got 30 miles on it i started to step into it a little more with no feel from the turbo. Honestly it felt like my 14 with 105HP. After 50 miles on it Saturday night i started wide open throttle runs, no boost and we never heard the blow off valve working. The Blow off valve will move when i pull on it so the spring feels fine. We just pulled it into the shop and all clamps are tight. Any ideas?

I was hoping to find something simple like a loose clamp etc. If i cant find the issue i will take it back to the dealer.

how do you know its not making boost?? If its all stock, you most-likely wont here it because the blow off vents into the intake tube.
I can tell from the power #1. It feels like my old 1000, about 100hp.From what i have read this morning you can feel the power difference and hear the turbo. After 3200 miles on my 2014 i know what 100HP feels like. This is not 145HP!

All I'm saying is that I have a stock RZR XP turbo and I've never heard mine. And never felt turbo lag, but it does have plenty of power.

I think he was like me and expected more..If you have no check engine light you probably have no issues..the turbo is so smooth you can hardly tell it's on there..I afraid your looking for something you don't get..

I just had a passenger ride with me and watch the waste gate. It is working and building boost.

I do not feel like i gained 40HP! To say the least im not impressed with the turbo! It feels like i have less power out of the hole versus the NA 1000. Guess i will be sending off the ECU for some extra HP.

^ that's disappointing

Be carefull sending out ecu, just had evo flash and could not drive car all weekend due to power loss and check engine light, my buddy with his flash had same issue..every time you would floor it up steep hill would go into limp mode..I would let these people get the bugs worked out first..

That really bites Donnie. I have had mine out twice now with the HCT flash and no issues. Moab both times. Not anything like the long pulls on steep dunes, but long sand washes and such that I could hold wide open for extended periods. It is not night and day difference from stock tune, but is noticeable. I have both ECUs so I can sway back and forth. I am sure the elevation is making a difference also as my XPT compared to my XP is very noticeable. I know you had said it wasn't what you were expecting when you first got it, even had it for sale for a bit.

Hope they get it ironed out. Good luck.

I was at glamis this past weekend with my xpt, rode with a couple of xp1k from our group and the xpt is faster. You can really see the power differance when we would line up at olds. Very happy with the upgrade so far.

My buddy has a 15XP and hes gonna come by this week and line them up and see if it really is pulling the way it should be. If it is im really disappointed in the performance. The machine itself compared to the XP is a vast improvement, the braking, suspension and the seating height.

As far as the tuning i think i will wait a bit until all the bugs are worked out.

Does 40 miles on a full tank sound right? 90% in low trail riding and being easy on the throttle. My XP would have got close to 100. If the turbo is not working properly and it running off all motor fuel economy would be way down correct?

40 miles on a tank ? You have something badly wrong. Get it back to the dealer asap.
My XPT gets about 100 to 130 miles per tank based how I'm driving it. As far as power you should be able to tell the difference immediately . Get it checked out

I agree take it back to the dealer, I've done multiple 60-80 mile rides @ windrock and used 3.5-4.5gallons each trip. These are group rides averaging 15-25mph and not getting on it very often. On rides with a small group and I'm running hard I'm still not seeing worse than 6gallons for 80miles. This is east coast trails though, I'm sure the glamis guys would love to get 80miles out of 6gallons of gas

Im dropping it ogg today and will post what they find.

My XP had 3200 miles, 90% of them from Windrock and Brimestone. We rode the north side of Windrock from camp, a little over 125 miles one day on a tank of gas.

We are talking about riding in mid January the Hatfield and McCoys trail system for a week.

The boost is all in right away. There is no lag & feel it build. There is no turbo sound or blow off noise. I was suspicious of same. I installed Bully Dog with boost gauges & ran stock tune. Mine goes to full boost right away. The top end feels weaker than KP1K. Tuned it feels better for sure, doesn't lay down up top. The thing would be tough to drive trails or track fast with boost lag.

I dropped it off yesterday and it felt good on the test drive in there parking lot. I told them to let it heat soak as i feel the blow off valve is sticking as others have reported. Its plastic and can stick open. 40 miles to a tank is a tell tell sign its not building proper boost and running on motor only. Im going to order EVO's blow off valve and get Bikemans bully dog.

Have your dealer check the wastegate linkage, specifically the spherical ball attached to the wastegate rod. I've already seen one completely froze up and it kept the wastegate stuck open on the turbo, thus no boost. Upon a closer look, the spherical ball and bolt itself looked discolored to me, like discolored by extreme heat. The turbo unit was replaced but just replacing the ball end would have fixed it. There is a ton of heat right there on that ball and since Polaris isn't using the typical e-clip on the wastegate rod like most other turbos, I can see this as being a potential issue.

Dealer said it was fine. BS! A stock 900 and i ran up to 60mph, i pulled him by a fender. I purchased the Bikeman Bully dog with a boost gauge. The Polaris data logger and the Bully dog show 14.2 psi at idle. When i accelerate it drops to 13.8, dealer claimed they got it to 30psi. I also replace the BOV with EVO's aluminum atmospheric and its a really nice piece. It does blow off pressure but still not reading any boost on gauge. I will double check the waste gate linkage.

Its going back to the dealer Monday and i want to see there data logger on it showing that its building boost.

Lets face it, if a stock 900 can run side by side with me with a +37hp tune on it something is terribly wrong.

Try this, When the car is cold have somebody fire it up and rev it up and hold the RPM steady no super high or anything say like 2k while you feel for exhaust leaks around the head and the pipe joints. it doesn't take much of an exhaust leak to kill power on a turbo. You can also double check all boost tube fittings.

Removed the heat shields around the manifold (PITA!) and checked the trq specs. No leaks.

I just ordered a boost gauge from Oriellys and they are bringing it to me. Gonna tap it in a get a real reading and see what the hell is going on!
