New 2014 RZR 800XC headlights not working?

I purchased my first RZR brand new yesterday and got it home last night. I went to unload it and the headlights would not turn on. The switch will come on but the headlights do not. I looked behind the headlights to make sure everything was connected and it was. The label on the wire that connects to the right headlight is labeled "left" and the wire connecting the left headlight is labeled "right" would this be the problem? The unit has less than 30 min on it. I would take it back to the dealer however the dealer is 3.5 hours away.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

First check that all of the connections at the switch have a wire attached to them. If there are wires then check the fuse for the headlights. If you can find the correct fuse and if it's OK. Being a new owner I suspect you don't have a service manual. You'll just about need one to do any further troubleshooting. TeamHog here on the forum has service manuals in the signature of all of his posts, you can download one from him. I'm not sure his manuals have wiring diagrams in them so they may not be as helpful as one purchased from a dealer.

Welcome to the Addiction!!!(R)

The seat I Believe does not have a slider?? Check the bolts under the seat at the seat pan for tightness. I could be wrong on the slider.
Its possible that a wire in the harness got pulled out of a crimp connect. unplug the harness at the switch and at the lights and use a volt meter to check for either power or an open circuit. Good Luck!

And X2 on the service manual in Teamhog's Signature line. Free download

The fuse box on the 09 is under the dash (driver's side) attached to the fire wall. Don't know for sure on the new machines.

If the new seats are like the older ones, remove the seat, you should see several allen or Torx head screws attached to the bottom of the seat - the screws being loose will allow the seat to slide. Tighten the screws after adjusting the seat to where you want it to be and the sliding should stop. Remember this info is valid for an 09 - there have been many many changes to the machines since then.

Appears to be whole LED panel with a heat sink on the back.

Have you tried calling your dealer? They might have a checklist.

And you asked them about the cable thing where the one on the left is labeled "right" etc?

It's probably as simple as something being unplugged. I'm not a true XC owner...I'm a conversion from a 50" or I'd look at mine. Wish I could help more. I looked at the service manual and its not much help so far, but does include a section on LED headlights.

Dmercer, what about the plug thing? Did you mention that to the dealer? Maybe it's possible they are plugged into the wrong headlight and that is causing the issue.

Me too, 4 miles on the engine and was junk thanks to the dealer leaving the dipstick hanging out of the dipstick tube. Thanks Abernathy's in Union City TN

i just went and checked my dads 2014 rzr xc. i saw what your talking about with the LH and RH plugs. my dads are plugged accordingly. LF to the drivers side and RF to the passenger side. it doesnt look like individual bulbs. the plugs plug into the back of the headlight assemblies. plug yours in the right way and then check operation. i dont know why they would really matter but since there labeled, they should go to the right sides.
also the 2014 rzr XC's come with the upgraded polaris PRP seats and a driver seat adjuster. my fathers adjusts and locks in place every little bit so yes they have a few different locked in positions. take the seat off and check how its made and why it isnt locking. sucks to do this but could save you lots of money and time from having to travel all the way back to the dealer. hope this helps

yes RH plugs into the passenger side front light assembly. LH plugs into the driver side light assembly.
i would check dipstick, and oil level. make sure oil is in motor. then go around and check any bolts you can easily get to and check your wheel lug nut torque. make sure everything is tight. i would take your driver seat out and make sure that the seat adjustment is tight and try and figure out why it isnt locking into the positions. that can be dangerous. take off fast and the seat moves all the way back? stop fast and it slams forward? not good. check tire pressures. etc. all safety items. make sure seat belts are bolted down tightly

I would go over every bolt, especially check all fluids and your locking dipstick is in properly. Also grease all grease fittings, 15 in all I think.

And I would remove the rear outer suspension bearing carrier from A-arms and grease those bushings. These don't have grease fittings.

"Green Grease" I found it at Autozone I found works great ascots water repellant like or better than marine bearing grease used on boat trailer wheel bearings.

I bet if you swap the connectors the headlights will work. They wouldn't be labeled "left" and "right" if they didn't have an assigned side.

As far as checking stuff...check engine oil level and make sure those fittings are greased. If you see purple grease on the zerks...probably means they greased them (Polaris grease is purple). That is part of the dealer prep so they might have forgotten.

Ok that sucks. So there's not a closer dealer to you? You can have warranty work done at any Polaris dealer.

Update guys. Lights are fixed. The connectors that come straight out of the light assembly were backwards. Not the part coming from the switch. It's a clip about 3 inches long that plugs Into the heat sink on the back of the light. If they are not plugged into the correct light then the wires are backwards.

Glad it's fixed! Thanks for all the help.
