Put a rag on the size bit it takes and holding the bit in tight try to take it out. If that doesn't work go one size larger, hammer it in carefully and slowly try to remove it. Last would be to drill it and use an easy out.

I'm pretty sure it's a Torx, that is what the dealer said too. It was an Allen wrench that stripped it, really not by me!

 

it looks like it has sand/dirt in it also clean it out good and hammer a alan bit in tight and use a ratchet a reg alan wont get it out if it was a torx its the shape of a alan now... ill go look at mine

 

Drill hole in or thru it and use screw extractor bit. or Tack welding a nut to it was a good idea also.

Hammer a torx into it. It's soft alum. The bit will bite.

 

Takes a 5/16th allan, 3/8th drive, long extension for me. After you get it out use anti seize on the threads and don't put it back in to tight. Lots of folks have stripped those things. Weld a nut on it, as suggested above, or get a new one.

 

8 to 10 ft lbs, that's it and that's nothing.

 

If what above doesn't work id take a grinder and grind a straight slot across it and get a big flat head screw driver in there. I've learned the hard way.

 

I just suck the old oil out of the dipstick tube. NO drainplug issues!!!

Take a hammer and chisel and hit it lightly it will come loose.

I stripped mine the first time trying to check the level. Dealer installed it way to tight!!!
I used a hammer and chisel as well worked great. A little tight but you can get it from the front. I then welded a 7/16 nut to it. Won't worry about stripping it any more!

 

I'd go with an easy out and get a replacement plug......those things are ridiculously soft.

 

Remove your front plastics,takes less than 5 min put channel locks on it. I had to on mine..

 

Guys...its an "allen" wrench...jeez!!!

And this is one reason I don't let anyone work on my machine!!

Well have we got it out yet? I would try the next size larger Allen. If that does not fit the hammer and chisle and hit the edge of the plug in the direction of lefty loosse.

 

Still haven't gotten it out. 50 Torx is too small. Tried plyers too tight to rotate them. I need to buy a larger easy-out to get some bite. Haven't tried the chisel yet.

 

I believe you can get a 55 torx.

 

It will break easy with channel locks if you remove the front plastic so you can get leverage.

 

the more you use a torx the worst it will get a next size metric or sae alan hammerd in would of taken it out gesss some people do not listen IT"S A ALAN not torx

 

I know it's an Allen , if you get a torx close in size it will usually grip where you rounded out with an Allen.

I cannot believe how tight that plug was. Completly damaged a new screw extractor, damaged my Craftsman box wrench (with a leverage bar attached to it), on the extractor and it still didn't come out. Finally drilled into with a large drill bit and hammered another type of extractor into it and finally it released. I used anti-seize compound on the new plug.
