Few weeks ago i finally sold my stock motor out of my rzr and took the plunge for installing an Arctic cat Z1 Turbo in my 2010 S, Should have the engine ready to run this week, thought i had all the sensors but am missing a couple that are on their way. Im trying to get this done for labor day weekend and i have my work cut out for me lol.

Im probably going to do the 4 position ecu flash which with proper mods yields stock 180hp, 220hp, 265hp and 325hp all on a switch should be fun!

i wanna give a HUGE shout out to andy aka Banshee84 for dealing with my numerous questions and guiding me through a couple things.

I bought my engine used thru a local dealer/distributor thru my business, I'm going to try and actually get more as I've had quite a few people interested. Mine has 1200 miles on it looks almost new, depending on what you can pick a sled up for I'd almost recommend going that route as I've been nickeled and dimed to death on the little things with this. The clutch is a brand new oem z1 primary and an STM billet overdrive secondary

Steve, why are you looking for a Z1? I thought you were going to use your Busa engine? Go on or join the HCS forum. Thats where I got my engine. There is a couple of guys on there that just parts out these sleds and they are pretty reasonable. P M me and I can give you a couple names.

Seems like any RZRs with more than 150 crank hp have had rear diff cases split open. not saying it will happen, but it can.
you could run the stock case and see how long it lasts... but if the case does split you might damage the internal parts, so it is a risk you have to judge for yourself.

Call Darrell at HPD if you are interested in his case. it takes a special tool, high torque, and setting the backlash with shims, so you might want to pay a professional to have it installed. I don't know if HPD does installs, but Hawk Eng sells and installs them.

HPD vs Stock:

"These new housings are cast from 356 aged and heat treated aluminum. This alone would make them twice as strong as the die cast originals. They are a minimum of 30% thicker and at least 3 times as thick in the pinion to output areas. It is highly unlikely that these housings will break.

Included with this kit will be the following:
1 ea - Right Side Housing
1 ea - Pinion nut (nylock)
1 ea - Pinion seal
1 ea - Pinion shim kit
1 ea - Spool shim kit
2 ea - Axle seals
1 ea - Torque tube o-ring
1 ea - Torque tube shim kit
1 ea - Case half o-ring
1 ea - Pinion gear locking insert
1 ea - Basic installation instructions"

When I had my Apex installed we also had Hawk Eng remake the drive shaft with chromoly and balance it. He also lines up the U joints.

Anything you can do to increase the strength of the drive train and make it more reliable and safer is a good thing when you are adding 4 or 5 times the stock HP.

I certainly hope that Jason didnt line up the U-joints. Unless my memory is failing me ATM, driveline U-joints should be 180 degrees out of phase from one another when they are balanced and installed.

The HPD diff looks beefy, too bad you cant get multiple gear ratios and air lockers like a real diff :D
I meant to say he timed them up the way they are supposed to be.
I think I heard polaris welds them on in any direction with no respect to orientation,,, but I haven't looked at them.
are they supposed to be 180 or 90 degrees apart?

Mounts are half built by me half bought, which this winter they will all be built by me as I don't much care for the position they were oriented in. not that it's hurting it but I want to change it anyway, would have done it now but the people I use are buried so I'll just wait til winter as I would like to take it out for the last half the season. Depending on costs at that time If the quantity discount is worth it I'll have more made and end up selling them who knows.

I think I got 1700$ out of the stock motor round 1200miles on it or so. Prob could have got more but needed funding for the swap

On another note, GREAT NEWS!!! It's running!! Have a bunch of loose ends to tie up but it is alive! I'll post up some more pics and a vid shortly.

Fast- I built my own intake plenum that is straight thru, I'll get some pics up when I get it tore back down for clean up/ beautify, for right now I was troubleshooting an issue I was having and now just enjoying it, I'm thinking about becoming a SV and making some different kits for these, starting with mounts only to a turn key setup
