My Maverick experience

I didn’t know it but I was in a market for a new ride.
Well I stopped by the dealer and they had just got in a Maverick XRS and I took it off their hands.

Everything I have has power steering and even though the maverick is not hard to steer it needs it as far as I am concerned.
I put on a set of 30” tires right off the bat did not ride it at all with stock tires.
My XP’s have roof, windshield’s and 29.5 outlaws.
While riding the Maverick I could tell it did not have the pep the XP has even with the larger tires on all of them.

I wanted to know after hearing all the talk about how much faster they were just how much so a friend of mine has a stock xp with the factory 27” tires, we lined them up on a paved road and raced for about a quarter mile and the stock xp put about 3 links on me, I figured the tires would slow it down but not that much, we decided to try it again but to do a rolling start at 15 mph and he still pulled me about 1 ½ links.
I was really surprised but it is what it is.
I will say it is built better and I along with everyone that was there really like the way it looks, it is quite a bit bigger than the xp and sure is more comfortable.
All in all I would not get rid of the XP for the Maverick, however if I was in the market for one and did not own either one I would choose the Maverick just because I am not a speed demon and the fit / finish and the way it is built.

Congrats on the new buggy! Ya, I was down looking at them the other day and was quite impressed with the fit and finish. They ARE a lot more roomy and open; you don't feel so much like "spam-in-the-can". I think I could really enjoy one of these, though I definitely wouldn't be putting bigger tires on it; wouldn't want to give away the performance. Be interesting to see how they hold-up...........

Cheers

That thing is sweet. Did you buy it at powersports of Conroe? I live in Montgomery. Where do you normally ride at?

I'm working in South America right now but we will be going to muddi gras at general sams on the 15th. We have a toy hauler so we will be staying all weekend. A friend of mine just ordered the 7" lift from S3. It would be cool if you could come out that weekend. I would like to see how the maverick does.

no heat in the cab, it is an issue in the Commander. The maverick has more insluation, different exhaust routing, and an open rear deck that lets air flow through the tunnel and keep the heat out of the cab.

Funny you say Bumble Bee, that is what the wife named it as soon as she seen it.

Went riding today, love the way it rides, when climbing I wish it had the locker front end it made it but had to get the weels spinning a little faster then I wanted to.
Again maybe im getting lazy or the larger tires make it alot harder but it needs power steering. Was tired after a half day of riding.

I wish there were more after market stuff for it, seems like only one choice for top with stereo, no power steering avalible.

I heard you could order the locker for the front end but can not seem to find it.
The exhaust sounds so much better or deeper then the XP.

With all that said it was a fun day and about 75 degrees.

I knew the loking issues when I bought it, I was thinking I would be able to buy the kit or what ever it is to change it.
From what I was told it was around 1200.00 and I am willing to do that.

To be honest the not having power steering bothers me more.

Really? wonder what kind of permits.
I know someone that is thinking of buying Down South.
I didnt know it was closed and almost went there but decided to go to General Sams since it is closer to me.

Power steering will be available soon, not much diffrent than the commander setup. The hard steering is most likly a result of extra offset wheels in the front with 30 inch tires....Did you compare the steering with stock rims/tires?
Adding more offset to your rim/tire increases steering effort greatly......
Nice machine,the cockpit is sensational.........
