Moroso Spiral Flow Muffler

So I had an idea in the back of my head for some time. Some people using glass packs and flowmaster mufflers and what not. So I thought about using the spiral muffler from Moroso. It doesnt have a straight through design but does have about a 1" pipe going straight through and then a spiral on the out side of the 1". This way I dont have any glass packing to burn out.
Here is the site:

I ordered it for around $55 shipped to my house. Then went down the Midas to get some tubing bent. Brought it all back to my shop and started the exhaust. Didnt take to long to make what I wanted and burn it in. All in all I think I have about $110 in the entire set up and making the fuel bulb.

I havent had time to take it out and try it yet. The dunes will be my test. Still need to make up some heat shields first so I dont melt anything. I got my heat gun on it and the header pipe and the muffler are the only thing getting really hot. Just off idle the header was reading around 500 deg and the muffler around 300deg just from idle. The 90deg bend was around 200 and the tile pipe was around 100deg.

Next will be a intake mod of getting rid of the intake baffle and just running a straight hose from the intake from the intake box to the intake off the bed. With a added fuel controller.

Where are the sound clips Meyer? I had to take my modified exhaust off and the fuel bulb to take it into the dealership and I can definitely notice a difference. Cool, let us know how that works out.

Just got back from the dunes and the Pipe worked great. I wish I could somehow bring down the DB's a hair. Might play with the out pipe and different designs. Was not able to get a sound clip of the car running up any hills or driving around. I think it might be a little loud if you dont have a head set on or ear plugs. I have car to car and it didnt bother me at all with my head set on. RzrRash and R3Meyer head the pipe and might chime in with their .02. But all in all im very happy with my pipe i made for just over a $100. I might do some more research on some mufflers and see if I can find one that will lower the DB's more but still flow air. I did feel the car to have more get up and go. Was not able to do a top speed run or times. Just put my fuel bulb at around 8psi and it worked great. Kind of fun when R3Meyer and I raced down the drags and he caught me right at the end. But a buddy had a 450 and said we kept pulling on him and couldnt catch up. Love the XP. Money well spent.

I've thought about the Hushpower DBX, or the Aero turbine XL. Just haven't got around to trying them yet.

Hushpower is being used already. Alba has been using them sense the xp camp out. They offer it as a slip on for like $450. I give Alba great respect because they gave me the confidence to build my own exhaust. And I am very happy with it. Just wish I had a way to tune it down more so when I ride the forest and desert in summer im not so loud.

The only bad thing is that the muffler came already painted black. Boy was I wrong on that part. That shit pilled right off on one major heat cycle. But all my other paint stayed just fine. I guess Ill have to strip it and paint it again with the header high temp paint again.

I was worried about melting stuff due to not having a heat shield. Im good and clear on that one. I think this muffler flows so much more that it doesnt get even close to the heat range the stock one is seeing. It felt that as if my fan was running half of what it use to at the dunes.

He has always been faster due to his tire selection he is using. But no one can get me out of the hole. I havent tried higher or lower PSI yet. Kind of hard to see if there is a difference in the sand. Ill just have to really wait to find out this summer when I can run it up and down the hard pack.
