Goin site-seeing with the buggy soon, and may have to leave it behind a couple times. No time for a LoJack. So i need a couple disabling quick easy security ideas.

I have been thinking of this myself, especially if we go over night somewhere and I leave it on the trailer. Besides your normal precautions you can take securing it to the trailer, I would think a car alarm type device may work. This would allow you to activate it anywhere. I have not had time to investigate further. Removable steering wheel would slow someone down but be a pain in the ass for your scenario.

insurance: check, theft is the only real reason I have it. I could chain the boy to it, but sooner or later hes gonna give me attitude.:cussing: And if I load him down with parts I take off the buggy, im really just giving him more ammo to throw at me.:scared2: I like the spark plug boots. Keep em comin!

We use a plastic coated cable and pad lock to lock all our machines together its easy and doesn't scratch things. In your case i would consider a battery disconnect switch one of the ones that takes a key you can probably mount it so that you don't even have to move the seat plus they are only like 20 buck at the auto parts. I like the idea of a quick release steering wheel they are simple you would just have to carry the wheel with you. I hate aftermarket car alarms they always seem great at first but have problems after a few years so I can't even imagine how bad they would get messed up in the hell my rzr is regularly subjected to.

get a battery cutoff switch at a auto parts store and mount it in a not so visible area. They are 5$ and will keep someone from jumping in and driving off. Thieves who do this for the most part have a key switch. Also make a quick release shifter by threading a collar down and drilling out the threads on the top of the collar. Drill a hole through and use a pull pin. If its in park they can't roll it without getting to the linkage underneath and without the leverage it is near impossible to shift from underneath.

Why would they steal stock seats? They cost next to nothing second hand.

As far as stealing it goes.. I just cable my machine to a tree or my trailer.. Run one through the rim and steering wheel then to one of those round locks that you can't cut with bolt cutters. I don't worry about it much more then that.. If your talking about leaving it parked out in the woods or something I simply wouldn't. If your talking about leaving it back at the campground or over night while you sleep then I just use the cable. Like others said make sure you have good insurance. Cause honestly if they want it they can and will get it.. Its not hard to shift them into neutral even if the shifter is locked or removed. Two guys can easily push a 2 seater onto a trailer or hook it to another machine and tow it away to somewhere else where they can take their time getting it running.
