Low range RPM

So I got this new 2018 XP 4 Turbo. In low range when I accelerate hard the RPM's build to about 7000-7500rpm, then drop to 5500rpm and stay put. No matter how far i push the gas pedal it will not accelerate past 5500rpm. Its like the pedal is dead. In high gear it runs like a top. Never had this issue on my xp1000 that i can remember. Any ideas?

Yep, LOW Range is speed and RPM limited. You'll need a tune to adjust those parameters.

I'll say, I absolutely loved LOW Range in my 2017 S1K after an AA Level 1 Tune. Completely changed that machine. Can't wait to tune my 18 XPT just for this reason.

So I'm looking to buy a XP4T or at least that was the plan but I am not a fan of having to flash something to get the power back out of it. I figure if the manufacturer put a limit on it it's likely b/c it's needed to prevent severe damage to the machine.
So it's really got me thinking again about getting the XP4 1000. My plan is to take this mainly trail riding in the mountains and deserts here in Utah as well as Moab a bunch. Going to the dunes will be a rare occasion, so will I really be missing out on anything outside of the 50HP loss. The XP 4 is also 2k less money and I'm really wondering if I need that extra power?

If you’re actually “wondering” if you “need that extra power” then you don’t. Save yourself the money. Also, 2018 turbo’s low range is much higher than before, making Moab tougher. Harder to crawl, requires a bit more momentum to avoid smoking the belt. 2018 turbos can be regeared/clutched/tuned but $$$$, plus you don’t sound like one of us who KNOW we “need” forced induction.
