My 16 year old son bought a 2020 1000s with his own money 6 months ago, that randomly blows the key fuse. Sometimes in water. snow and other times under dry conditions. Speed of gearing does not matter. Once the fuse is replaced everything is fine for a while then randomly blows. Took it to the dealer and they could not get it to blow found nothing wrong, $130.00. Rode that night and had three key fuses blow. Yesterday I sprayed water all over the SXS, on wiring harness, ignition, fuse box, did not blow a fuse. I'm lost!!! What next.

A service manual/wiring diagram would be helpful also. Intermittent Electrical issues take patience and time. Either have a lot of fuses or a resettable fuse tool and wiggle/move harness may help locate.

Way to go for your son. Kudos for buying with own money. Ask him to note if it has to do with steering. What has been mentioned is so true. Very hard to find. The danger if it is going to ground, with out a fuse, lots of damage will be done. This could be a great learning experience on trouble shooting for your son and you to figure it out together.

Along with what is mentioned is a bad ground can cause the fuse to overheat and blow. The ignition turns on lots of things. Have you added any accessory to the system. Also make sure all the harness connections are tight. Have him watch the battery voltage on the dash read out as he rides. Watch for voltage spikes or drops. Make sure connections are tight at the power block under the hood. Good luck.

Since it blows while running, you have to assume it's after the switch, right? So track where each wire travels. If it has any aftermarket loads disconnect those for now.

You don't have a stereo or anything connected to that accessory line of that do you? If so, volume and or bass amount will change current draw randomly. Best practive is to isolate any load via a relay.

Are there any controls (wiring to) on the steering wheel? My PXP4 kept popping the 5A INST ACCY fuse intermittently. I finally caught it in the act when I turned the steering wheel all the way to the left. See: “Dynamix issue, stuck in firm” in the ProXP forum. Drove me nuts for a while. I found some wiring diagrams on these forums that pointed me in the right direction
