Check to see what RPM the engine is at when the clutch engages (or jerks). You can probably change the clutch springs and weights for a lower engagement and smoother take off. Call Dale at dirtydawgperformance.net if you want a good clutch vendor.

No, I didn't check anything yet. Never had to work on a belt on this or a snowmachine. I will take the cover off and look at it. Other than obvious damage what is there to see?

 

If you only have 200 miles on it, I doubt anything is wrong with the clutch or belt. It is just not tuned the way you want it.

 

I know mine has been jerky since day one in reverse only... only about 60 miles on it and in reverse its jerky unless I put my foot into it... no slow, smooth reverse.

 

Mine has been that way as well. I really need to adjust my clutch.

I would check the throttle cable adjustment, mine was way off from the factory. You would be pushing down on throttle and then it would jump when it finally hooked up...

Ok, I got mine fixed last night. I checked the amount of excess throttle cable at the gas peddle, had close to 1/4- 3/8 inch. Adjusted the throttle cable until I could only get my thumb nail under the end of the cable giving me the 1/16-1/8" of free play per manual. I started the engine a few times while adjusting to make sure the idle didnt start to creep upwards. Took it for a spin, going forward no more jerking. Reverse still jerky, but I attribute that to the extra low range reverse is.
