Yea...I done some upgrades.... Went with a Viper 4K winch....aftermarket roof bought from a friend......front bumper...and some new shoes.....Mud Lite XTR'S mounted on ITP SS312 wheels....I was thinking about a windshield, looked at the two piece from Double00UTV...but is there really a benefit from a half front windshield??...Because here in South Ga......there is a lot of mud...

+1 for bugs. They block about "half" the wind buzzing down trails. The top lip is at your sightline, which can be annoying.. I'd get a folddown windshield if I were to get another. For mostly mudding, wouldn't think you'd need one, imo. EMP makes a quality half windshield if you decide to get one.

I love my 1/2. I can now ride at high speeds with my hat facing forwards. They do help with bugs and I think it completes the look. I don't want a fold down, I've heard about then saw for myself the amount of dust a full windshield brings in. Acts like a vacuum so it seems to me. All the dust gets pulled right around the edges and into the cab. In my opinion of course.

I like my 1/2 windshield... I normally ride with a bunch of guys and was concerned about a full windshield getting full of dirt/mud while riding. I find the 1/2 windshield does a great job of deflecting wind/bugs, but I can still see.

Personal preference. It's a little like the full screen / half screen debate with motorcycles. Some like to look over, some like to look through. With these rigs though windshields give you the added problem of collecting mud and sucking dust, sometimes HUGE amounts of dust into the cab.

I have a vented full windshield, but I take it off for the warmer weather. Bugs, dust and debris can hit you in the face without a windshield, maybe with a half windshield -- depends. I keep goggles, glasses and scarves in the rig for those riding conditions.

I've run a half windshield for a couple of years and can't add much to the previous comments except to say "X2". I did buy a full windshield for the Taylor Park this year and they're great for cold running and rain. On my 4 seater it did cause a lot of dust and rain to be sucked in from the back. Something I never had with the half shield.,yeah, they're worth it.

I bought a half windshield a month ago and have been happy with it. My 9 yr old son was the primary reason as on the dirt roads we ride to get to trails dust from other riders was getting in our faces since we both ride with open faced moto helmets and goggles or sunglasses. Bought mine $115 shipped on ebay....

Half is a good buy. With no shield in back it just blows through it in dusty situations. Now for rain not so much..comes through. Snow is pretty awesome...you can watch the snow deflect off the angled part and it never comes in. Never needed to wear glasses with the half except for rain and when it's pouring down sunshine [emoji2]

I have made a half windshield for about 40$. When riding you can see over it when it gets dirty. i have the lock n ride full windshield i don't use it much, that was a waste of money for a little more glass is the way to go, you just can't clean the plastic on the trail. try to ride into the setting sun with dust on it is next to impassible. I do like the half when its cool out it deflects the wind and bugs. real easy to pop on and off in seconds, i have seen they make them tinted.

Having experienced them all, 1/2, full and none my preference is the flip up full windscreen. The 1/2 lets in as much stuff - bugs, dirt, rain - as none at all. With mine I can ride with it closed, slightly open or completely open at any speed with no problems. Usually ride in the slightly open position to let some air flow thru. I believe the vacuum effect is best defeated with a combination of full windscreen, back windscreen, doors, roof with air foil and fender flairs. The last part of that equation is to ride far enough behind anyone to stay out of there dust cloud.

Half with a lip. Tusk roll up rear that works great for $40. Roof and doors. With a full you'll need water, windex, and soft rags to clean the dust off for anytime you're caught riding into the sun. Literally riding blind at times when the full gets dirty and its late in the day. Not to mention the scratches the full will inevitably have after time. If you get a full windshield make sure its vented to pressurize the cab in dusty conditions and a flip up if at all possible.

I carry one of those California Mini Dusters for this reason. It works well on glass but I'd guess it would probably add to the static dust collection on a plastic shield. Obviously it's not for mud. Don't ever loan it to someone who cleans their shield with something that leaves an oily residue...

I have a 1/2 + 2 it works good. I also added a flip down visor like on a school bus. I can adjust it as needed for the air flow. At the full down position it leaves about a 3" gap between the top and bottom. Most if the time it is pulled down about half to control air across my eyes and head. At full down you can see and no dust comes in. It will let a little rain in. It came as tinted but that meant black as hell and no light comes through. I am going to replace the black lexan with smoke so I can see through it when it is all the way down.https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/1021/34392/Tusk-UTV-Sun-Visor

Help me out. I just purchased my first rzr and I am getting ready to purchase a skidplate for it and now my wife wants some wind protection. I have an xp4 1000, if I put a half windshield on with no roof and factory half doors are my kids going to get dusted out. Do I need to get a rear wind deflector if I get a half windshield. Is not having a roof going to be a problem with any of the above. I plan on building my own roof over the winter months. Just trying to get it more comfortable for the family over the holiday weekend.

Thanks for your input.

I have the half on my 800 and was considering a full on my 900S, but i still like the wind in my face,it is part of the experience. It keeps the dust out and when it does get dirty you can still look over it. I have a tinted one on the 800 and I will probably go with the tinted half on the new one also.

Good thread. I have the same problem deciding on 1/2 - whole, flip down, flip up. I do mainly Colorado mountain riding and as much as I like the breeze in my face... Some days I need the warmth and the cold mountain rains off my chest and face. So like most I need to find the best solution for my area of riding. Thanks for all the comments
