If I wanted to get an Ipad strictly for maps and navigation for the RZR what unit would be best and what am I looking at paying?

I went with the mini 4 but if I had it to do over I'd gotten the mini 2. Why the 2 over the 4? Life Proof doesn't make a fully enclosed case for the 4 is why. The one for the 4 is still waterproof but it seals the edges of the screen instead of covering it.
I didn't get one with cell service as I purchased a stand alone gps from amazon I bought the sky pro brand. Combined with the iPad it's an awesome setup and shows everything

I have been using my Ipad 2 for years. I currently have 7500 miles in my Rzr 1K with it. I use Scenic Map app. It works perfect. When I ride I turn off the cell and WiFi and just use the internal GPS antenna. I have it placed in a Ram X-Mount. The cover is rubberised and has been on this Ipad since the Ipad 2's came out (years). It keeps it from any breakage if you drop it. When placed in the X-Mount the Belkin case is actually in the X-Mount jaws which then vibration isolates the Ipad. The IVisor screen cover protects from any dirt. Dust and rain doesn't hurt it. My Ipad has been more places than most people have gone and has never let me down. Scenic Map app has routed all our rides. I can plan a route either sitting at home in no time and not even have been to my ride area or I can do it in 5 minutes while camping.

An Ipad mini works fine too, but I had the Ipad 2 to start plus I prefer the larger easy to read screen. I also use the Scenic Map app when I fly.

We have a ride planned for tomorrow. It took my maybe 10 minutes to put a bunch of waypoints on the map for an 80 mile ride turn by turn.

Note** I don't use the end clamps on the X-Mount. Just the side clamps.

Anyone thought of trying a unit designed for fishing by Garmin. They caught my eye recently while browsing the fishing dept. Looks like you can download Garmin off-road topo maps. Not sure if they will accept others or not? The screens are bright and clear. Built in GPS and waterproof. They have some sizes that look like they would be at home in a RZR.

I used my old garmin 172c I removed from my boat when I sold it many years ago and had maps on a sd card from vvmapping for riding here in Michigan. Worked great until it kicked the bucket last summer. It had to be about 25/26 years old so I can't complain about it quitting.

Q, how do you have that mounted?

It's in a lifeproof nuud case, the mount is from SlipGrip ($30). I use two of the Polaris roll cage clamps, pictures explain it better.
Thankfully the mounting holes are standard (Ram mount) and Polaris uses the same standard on the windshield clamps so all four holes lined up perfectly just like my Montana mount.

That's slick. Thanks.

Any mapping program will work but the most common are Motion X and Scenic Maps. I've been playing with Onix's Hunt GPS because I already use for hunting because of the property and hunting unit boundaries and it shows more trails than any other. Another. Big plus is you can download the satellite images.

Ipad with Scenic Map app for me.

I've tried all the others and GPS's and it's Ipad for me. No downloading and transferring. Better info it a fingers touch. I use the western US map which also covers me for northern Mexico.
I can plan any of my trips without ever being there and plan a 100 miles ride in 5-10 minutes turn by turn. Why mess with all the other stuff. Plus at the end of the day I have my Ipad for emails or the internet, but not with a stand alone GPS.
