Installing an hour meter on RZR 170

I was shopping at my local RV supply shop and came across an hour meter that looked like it would fit just perfect on the dash of our RZR 170. I figured if it was to big I’d only be out about 32 bucks. So I picked it up.

I got a chance about a week later to look at the hour meter against the dash of the 170 and as you can see it was the perfect size.

So the fun began. First I did a quick visual inspection under the dash, to insure that I wasn’t going to hit anything when I started cutting….Nothing in the way, good.

Measure twice and cut once. I made sure by cutting a little small to give me that ‘little extra’ for fine tuning. (Glad I did, it fit with only very little bit of trimming to the edges.)

Wiring was easy, I found the Tan wire, on the cluster from the key, is ignition hot (+) and the Black wire is a good ground(-). <The hour meter is polarity sensitive; otherwise your meter runs backwards>

This meter has tenths on it so after I got everything wired up. All I had to do is turn the key to the on position and wait 6 mins. for the tenths to click over and everything works fine.

Under $35.00 spent and less than an hour to install.
