Install your own valve stems??

As I mentioned in another post, motoxmall.com sent my wheels first then the tires arrived. Had no idea they wouldn't come already mounted.

Decided I'd try to mount the tires myself ... Can't even get the valve stems into the rim's valve stem holes. How do people do this??

Tks ...

I use soap and the little T br tool that came in my flat repair kit, the tool is $3 at Walmart, just screws into valve stem and then you yank it in safer than using pliers that can crush the stem. If you try to mount your own tire also use soap water on the beads to help them slide over the rims ( i managed with no tools to set 26" bighorns on 14" rims). Do not inflate to more than 25PSI to set beads, what you need is high volume of air not high presure

atv tires rarely give a hard tme setting beads. if you get into trouble use a ratchet strap around the tire to bulge he sidewall out. then give it just enough air to set the bead and then remove the strap and fill to 10psi to set the bead completely.

some dishsoap and water mix in a spray bottle works wonders use plenty of it.

Ran down to Wally-Mart, bought the little $1.94 t-bar tool that screws onto the valve stem, and bam, it lets me yank them right into place!! Just like you all said ...

Now, getting the tires onto the rims, not so much. I soaped 'em up like mad & nuttin'. I must be too light or weak or both. Off to the tire shop tomorrow I guess ... At least the valve stems are in; I'm sure they'll really care!!

I dropped the wheels & tires off at my local Goodyear shop that said they'd mount the tires, & seat them of course, for $36: Not bad!

But ... Later they called & said the rears were done & the front tires were mounted, but that they couldn't seat the fronts. 8" wide tire on a 7" wide rim; Weird.

I had to take them to another shop that had an air blaster, or some such thing, and although they seemed unsure about whether it would work, they got them done.
