I don't understand removing the sway bars?

I understand that removing the sway bar makes the wheel drop to the ground when off camber. This makes one feel like the vehicle better articulates to the ground. HOWEVER, whether the wheel is touching the ground (sway bar removed) or hanging higher due to the sway bar working, doesn't the wheel still have to cover the same amount of travel either way? It may make a driver feel more secure, but there isn't really an tension on the suspension either way until the vehicle returns back to the ground. What am I missing? How does having a wheel drop to the ground without any suspension tension (like when the sway bar is removed) really help anything? It seems to me to be a null effect? As a matter of fact, isn't worse since you no longer have an antisway device during high speed cornering and no "real" or "false" articulation when dangling and having a loose wheel(suspension)during an off camber situation? Puzzling to me...

Back in 09 I had a standard 50" 800... My buddy had the 60" S (no front sway bar) and id have trouble going up the same hill he did.. His front tires would articulate into the washouts and my front wheels would just get a grip on one side when off camber..His wider stance helped him more but I unbolted my front sway-bar and noticed much better traction going up the same wash out hills (the dangling wheel would get a lil traction.. 4 wheels gripping instead of 3)...I did not remove the rear because people that did said too much body roll... Id think itd be the same on a 570 but not sure I hadnt looked at one..Articulation is a good thing in my book.. Just my experance, Good luck

No worries.. There aint no dumb questions on this forum.. Well sometimes but this isnt one of them :rofl3:
Also when your tire is hanging during articulation, you sometimes hava a better chance at turning your wheel back and forth into the side of the bank to grab a lil traction..

I was hopeing someone with a 570 had taken off their swaybar to give you some feedback.. maybe in time, Good luck :ride:

I have taken the sway bar off of my 570. There is a world of difference even with stock suspension. I ride mud a lot and most of the mud holes around here have one side deeper than the other when coming up out of them. This little bit of extra traction I believe this has kept me from being pulled out more than once. Also the wheel is still under a load due to the coil spring so it's not just hanging there. As far as high speed I don't ride fast. The Kenda Executioners tend to walk a little bit above 50 mph.

interesting topic.......

I'm curious....if there is no weight behind the off camber wheel, such as there would be if the sway bar was attached, then how is there really any force on it that holds the wheel to the ground giving it traction?

In my mind, I see it this way...visualize the left front tire being off camber and touching the ground, would the machine tilt toward the off camber wheel slowly or quickly IF you shifted the weight of the machine to the off camber side? If the machine tilts quickly, then there really is nothing there giving the machine negative force.

With rock crawling unhooking the front sway bar will give you more stability..Instead of rocking back and forth on 3 wheels in an off camber situation, your wheels will average out the weight letting all 4 touch and sort of balance out the Rzr.. Like I said I aint no mechanic or expert by no means but this is what I see.. This jeep on YouTube is an example..The jeepers have the quick disconnect sway-bar so they hook back up on the road.. First of him connected and second is disconnected. Some people dont like to disconnect but I think it helps..I wish this was a Rzr comparision lol

I don't think I understood it either, but I do know this, they are both gone for good.

Vehicle rides like never before..

Try it temporarily.. Put it to your own test. Unbolt it from your front a arms and zip tie the bar up outta your way and ride.. If you dont like it, hook it back up no harm..
