New to the fourm and I am about to buy a RZR-S. Can the RZR-S be used on the trail or is it just for the dunes. I do not want to make the wrong choice. Anyone just use the RZR-S for the trails?.

I do, i mean, sure, you can go anywhere that is 60" wide, bout as wide as jeeps are... its just harder to turn than a normal one, the turning radius is close to 55" more... I find that I have to back up to clear switchbacks...
The S has higher ground clearance, i dont drag nearly as much as my buddies and their normal rzr's, and the wider track helps with stability nearly ten-fold.

I love mine in the straight, and i got a heck of a deal on my rzr-s, but, if i had the choice, i would have got the camo normal rzr.

If you trail ride more... you "might" want to consider the regular RZR, because it's definitely much less of an issue in tight trails, not to mention you'll save 3-4K off the top. If you do the dunes a lot, I'd get the "S" for sure.

If you do both, then I'd probably get the "S" because of how much better it is in the dunes, it's worth the headache of the large width on the trails.

You have a tough choice...I ride on trails where 50" BARLEY makes it. A S would have to stay at home half the time for me. So I got a regular RZR...sometimes I feel like I regret not getting an S...but again it would have limited my UTV use in half.

I think 60'' wide is the sweet spot! It still fits in the bed of my truck, I ride all the trails around here without any issues and when I do get out into the flats and dunes it's just ridiculous!

RZR S FTW :rzrs:

I have an s I use just on trails and I love it.

I have no experience with a standard rzr,but If I were you I would base my decision on what type of trail I would be riding the majority of the time (width)and scoots.($$$$$).:rzrs:

I guess I'm just curious what trails you have "no issues" on because even here in California, I ride on many that I find tight in my RZR.

The nice thing, is that you can always change where you ride, knowing you're a certain width.

Thanks. I live in PA and it will be only used for trails. I thought the extra money was worth the wheels tires and suspension. But I really don't want to regret it. I was considering it would be better also with the HO motor.

Most Trail systems are limited to 50". But if your not riding in one of these ORV Parks and just out riding logging roads and jeep trails, the S will out perform the standard razor in many areas. The ride down a bumpy logging road is night and day between the two. Also its side hill stability is also a lot better. Ride before you by and then compare for yourself. Most dealerships around my parts have an area to test drive the vehicles they sell with some terrain to test them on.

I went through the same thought process, then bought the S. I ride trails in Northwest California (think hills, trees, brush and water bars). The width just has not been a problem and is an advantage playing ralley driver on the fire rods. I would not go on the skinny motorcycle trails even in a standard rzr (tight trees). We have a rock crawling area and it is amazing there too!

If you plan on riding on ATV trails the S will be a pain. I kicked around getting a S and I have to admit the LT with the larger wheels looks sharp sitting in the dealers lot. I went with a standard size LE simply because I ride on narrow trails most of the time. Even with the standard RZR I have a hard time following Quads on trails. A RZR is just wider and longer so it can't make the same turns. The other issue is if you mud a S will beat you to death because with a LT kit everthing just gets tossed into the cab :) This question comes up a lot. In the End it really just comes down to where you ride. There seems to be a ton of people here that live on sand dunes. Most people around here have never even seen a dune besides TV lol. I've been to them twice, But I was in a jeep once and a sandrail the other time.. If I lived by Dunes I'd have a sand rail :)
