Hey guys, I'm looking to build an overhead console type stereo for my rzr. I wanted to get a look at a few that you guys have built yourself for some ideas. What did you use to mount it? Post 'em up!

At haywire17,

Ok was wondering if you were worried about heat. I was in the air on what to do with my amp. It is enclosed behind front speakers. I left a space open next to that for a future amp for wakeboard speakers. The amp is digital and was told it would take the heat. Guess I will see. I did mount a fan at each end of the amp. Haven't had any problems with heat this winter but we will see when the dog days get here..Keep me posted if you do add an amp.

Anyone ready for a SILVER-SEVEN ?

update on fiberglass here are some pics for first coat of glass and resin with black paint color, trimmed off bad edges had to use dremel tool too hard for razor knife and way to time consuming for sander, dremel is way to go.:)

Ok so I had some time to start sanding, went well, the resin is hard as nails, did not clog sandpaper, but surely wore it out. I kinda like the krinkle look it has after sanding, was debating whether to make it gloss finish, I figured it would show any imperfections and scratches really easy, so I mite go with the semi smooth finish.:)

1st coat of all resin, starting to fill in all them voids looking real good, hopefully I can sand tomorrow,I laid a pretty good amount on tonight.:)
you can see how deep the color is getting compared to the glass coat.
I think the fiberglass is heavier than the form itself.I am going to weight it once done to get final weight I hope it falls between 10-12 lbs. minus stereo and such
:)

All of these look great. I am wondering if you use marine grade speakers?

My concern is that for any speakers that face towards the front at all the dust will get em or the water from splashing when we ride. Do you have to be concerned when you wash it with maring grade's??

Thanks and it looks awesome.

Honestly the fiberglass work was not that hard, watched many YouTube video's on it first, me and my girlfriend did it she really impressed me and was a lot of help with two people doing it. The cost of it I'm not sure. I got my resin, hardener, and fiberglass matt for free from a cousin. The fleece was really cheap though, used like 6 feet of it. This was my first time to try using fiberglass and it worked good. I did not spend a lot of time on sanding since i was using roll on bed liner which was a plus cause sanding is a pain.

So I've got a quick question to all of y'all that are fiberglassing your speaker enclosures the staples after it hardens do/ or can you pull them out or do you just cover them with bondo. I'm building a big speaker box for the bed with a place to put a cooler and a Jerry can and I'd like to cover everything with resin but I'm wondering if I just do the upper part and then do the bottom after the top hardens if 1 will they stick and
2 if the staples will be a weak point or
3 I can pull them out and cover them with resin or bondo

Thanks ahead of time this is my first time messing with fiberglass
