So I just got my first RZR 900xp yesterday. Its used with 88hrs and 1440 miles. I noticed today that when Im in high and I go WOT, it revs too high and it bounces off the rev limiter several times when the speed is at about 35-45 mph I would guess. Havnt had enough space/time to see if the RPMs decrease after a few seconds of riding the rev limiter. I know this isnt normal, but after searching around the forum for a while, I havnt found anything addressing an issue like this. So any ideas about what is wrong and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Definitely need to take the clutch cover off. I would recommend pulling the belt off and seeing if anything is loose in the primary clutch.

Mine started hitting the rev limiter around the 500 mile mark and it turned out to be a loose spider nut. It is a little bit of a pita tho. I had to order up a primary clutch puller tool and pop off the primary. I just boxed mine up and sent it to Todd at Hunterworks for a freshen up job. That way I knew it was done right.

Thanks for the info. I might try that. How much did Hunterworks charge to service your primary? And how long did it take to get it back after you sent it in?

I already took it to a Polaris dealer this past week, and they told me it was a bad belt, so I took their word for it, paid the money and figured it was fixed. Took it out after I brought it home, and it had the exact same problem with no difference...I will see if I can take it back in and have them not charge me more since they never fixed the problem. They were nice guys, so Im hoping to atleast have what I paid be a credit towards whatever it will cost to actually fix the problem.

What year is it? if 13 or 14 could simply be the white washer in the primary clutch that we remove but after do NOT run over 70mph for any length of time

The more likely is the mentioned spider nut backed off and or spider with it too.

Feel free to call me but in mean time watch this video that might explain it that I made.

I'm not even sure how much Todd charged me. I just remember it was so much cheaper than anything I would have broken or lost trying to disassemble it myself. LoL

I'm pretty sure it was less than a hundred tho. And I sent it off one week and got it back the end of the following week too.

Sucks the dealer diagnosed it wrong. I too thought mine was a bad belt, so I ordered a new one first. But when I was changing the belt, I noticed something loose in between the two sheaves of the primary. It looked like a "notched" spacer or nut. I actually came on here and asked questions because I didn't think it looked right.

So I took it back to my dealer since they told me that the money I spent that did not fix the problem would not be wasted. They told me that the primary clutch sheaves are worn, which is why I'm not hitting the rev limiter until 35-40 MPH. So now my question is this: What are my options??
