help with code 84 2 and speedo jumping

Not exactly sure whats going on.

was out on the trail couple weeks ago and had the steering light and code come on and would lose power steering intermittently and not completely go into limp mode but would hesitate upon initial acceleration. My speedometer would also jump random like run up to 45mph when Im going 20 and come back down.

somebody in our group mentioned they had that problem right before their VR went out so I had one with me - changed it out on the trail and seem to be staying right around 14.1 or so at idle. It didn't pop too many more codes for the rest of the day but the speedo would still bounce weird and every once in a while be sluggish on takeoff.

got home plugged in my dynojet and it happened to pop the code and read 84 / 2.

for the most part now the codes not usually on - and I can drive it but it does still hesitate upon initial acceleration. I thought I read that it could be the speed sensor and I did go through a big puddle on that side so I pulled it - didn't see any moisture but let it dry out all day in the sun and put some dielectric grease in there but hasn't really helped.

any suggestions?

There are 2 reasons this code can happen. 1. The VR sensor has a magnet in the end of it and it can pickup metal debris from normal wear in the transmission. This will interfere with the signal. 2. The wires going to the sensor are broken right at the connector inside the insulation. To check the wires, gently pull on the wires right where they enter the speed sensor connector and see if they stretch. For the fix I would recommend you take the sensor out and clean it off and if you still have issues you may need a replacement wire harness for the sensor. Should you end up needing a repair harness we offer them here https://otbpowersports.com/product/otb-pol-spd-09-14/

already pulled the sensor and cleaned it but I’ll check on the wiring harness see if I can see anything weird there....thanks!

after buying a new sensor and not working and buying the wiring harness and it not working finally found it after taken to a second dealer....the recall plates around the bed were hitting the speed sensor wire hire up behind them and had worn through the outer layer and causing it to ground out on the plate....taped up and moved out of the way and it's working again like normal...what a colossal PIA

Ok, so just had this issue on a 2020 razer 570
After going thru speed sensor etc. This is were I'm going to send you for fixing this issue.... driver side ecu connector passenger side wire lom splits and goes three directions....rubbing on the frame...this grounded the signal wire,,, I also had a fan constantly on there were three wires effected after fixing wires and securing wires...
Poof fixed

I just fixed this on a razer, disconnect ecu wiggle connection to passenger side, I'll bet you here relays chatting.. the wire looks splits three directions found it shorted signal wire
